Any June 2018 Sleevers in Here?!

Recommended Posts

Awe thanks @lisarocks. I am already weaned off from caffeine and sugar due to Ramadan (16 hour fasts only eating after sundown and before sunup) so withdrawal happened for me a few weeks ago and I never really went back...it was terrible enough the first time around. I am happy it’s gotten easier for you!!

I’m anxious about going all liquid starting tomorrow. I find the shakes make me feel dehydrated and I can’t drink enough Water to make up for it and then I just feel tired. Had my hospital registration yesterday so trying to tell myself it will go quickly and get distracted at work. Got the sugar free popsicles as someone suggested to get through....

Reading about everyone on the other side makes me feel so much better when I freak out a bit though - especially the photos :-)

And although I am probably late, Happy Rid al-Fitr. I hope there would be a Muslim I could wish that for. May your surgery on the 28th be blessed with excellent healing. I will be having a RnY in July, probably the middle, and am hopeful mine will go well also.

I know it is Eid al- Fitr, my phone is a heathen with missplaced spell-correct, it not only hates foreign words it misspells English as well! Please forgive me, the phone is beyond forgiveness!😪

Howdy everyone! Got sleeved this Monday (6/18). My abdomen is super sore and hurts when I get up, cough, laugh, etc. Monday and Tuesday I was very nauseous but it’s gotten a little better. I’m currently working on sipping my Water. It’s harder than I thought to take small sips instead of big gulps!

Hi, hope you are doing better each day as I am. My sleeve surgery was last Friday 6/15 and that day was the worst but I still managed to get up and walk. My post op appt is next Tuesday, and I can't wait to weigh in. Getting tired of the liquid diet, it gets old.

Surgery Date: 06/15/18

HW: 202

First day was the hardest and everyday has goetten just a little better. Today is day 6 and I was able to cook a whole family dinner, walk 30 minutes twice without getting super tired, and drank 40 oz of fluids.... just remember that first day to keep your eye on the prize because it’s hard day.

Hi, same here with the surgery on 6/15. I have been feeling better each day. I'm anxious to weigh myself, my post op appt is next Tuesday and hopefully change my diet. Are you still on clear liquid fluids?

Yes, I'm on Clear Liquids until Sunday, then I start the full liquids diet for 2 weeks. I'm so ready to move to full liquids i miss food lol. I've got my count down going... mostly i've been craving avacados. So once i get to the mushy food stage i think i'll be fine. When do you get off clear liquids?

I broke out my scale because my mother in law said I look thinner. I was like she’s crazy I don’t feel any thinner, but since my surgery on the 19th I’ve lost 16 lbs!

Had surgery yesterday 6/21, checked out the first day. I wish i had stayed overnight. Only the pain meds there were working.

Taking tramdol now, have to crush it...no fun and doesnt work that well.

Really nauseous, hurts when i sip Water. Looking forward to feeling better soon!

Just found this site, I had my sleeve on the 13th. Was fine in the hospital, but the first 2 days home afterwards were rough. As soon as I got on the full liquid diet, it's been smooth sailing. Mostly just miss eating, but can start next Wednesday. Down 9.4 pounds since surgery.

Gypsyvangirl, I take Tramadol for back problems and it really doesn’t do much. I’m hoping the more weight I lose, the better my back will feel.

I’m 10 days out and just had a long outing to the movies and to pick up a few groceries and I’m exhausted. (I was already exhausted after my shower). I am excited - I ordered a new water bottle - it’s called a Cirkul bottle and it comes with these cartridges of flavoring. The Water doesn’t do anything unless it goes through the cartridge. I just tried the fruit punch (zero calorie or sugar or anything) and it’s amazing. It’s delicious. It also helps that it’s a sport bottle top so I can sip easier and not take big gulps. Definitely my new favorite tool for this surgery.

Iʻm roughly 6 weeks post-op this morning and have begun to feel like a normal human, with a normal human body again. I started introducing solid foods and pill forms of medications/supplements a couple of weeks ago and it's really amazing to eat meals with my family again, despite the fact that my portions are so much smaller than theirs.
I live on the island of Oʻahu and spend a lot of time in the water- for exercise, for play,  and for spiritual & mental health. The day I had my month out appointment with my surgeon, I packed all my gear in my truck, anticipating his permission to get back in the ocean. The minute I walked out of that hospital I drove straight to the shore and got in that water. Hallelujah! My appointment was at 10 am. I didn't get home until after 5 pm.
I'm down 31 pounds since the day of surgery and 47 since my pre-op diet began, with that typical week long stall occurring at three weeks. I'm really starting to see some changes lately- some of my clothing is too big, some fits again. The most drastic changes I notice however are in my face. I've also noticed my endurance and flexibility increasing. I was really starting to be held up physically, and I'm so grateful that I'm seeing that turn around in such short order.
My general disposition lately is hopeful and motivated. The only thing that bugs me on a daily basis still is the way those supplements make my house smell. So stink! But I just bought a smell proof bag online that other people use to put their pot in. My house doesn't stink anymore.

Oh yeah, something I wanted to rant about, a billing dispute that cropped up 3 months ago.
Surgery was in August of 2023. A bill shows up for over $7,000 in January. WTF? I asks myself. I know that I jumped through all of the insurance hoops and verified this and triple checked that, as did the surgeon's office. All was set, and I paid all of the known costs before surgery.
A looong story short, is that an assistant surgeon that was in the process of accepting money from my insurance company touched me while I was under anesthesia. That is what the bill was for. But hey, guess what? Some federal legislation was enacted last year to help patients out when they cannot consent to being touched by someone out of their insurance network. These types of bills fall under something called, "surprise billing," and you don't have to put up with it.
      https://www.cms.gov/nosurprises
I had to make a lot of phone calls to both the surgeon's office and the insurance company and explain my rights and what the maximum out of pocket costs were that I could be liable for. Also had to remind them that it isn't my place to be taking care of all of this and that I was going to escalate things if they could not play nice with one another.
Quick ending is that I don't have to pay that $7,000+. Advocate, advocate, advocate for yourself no matter how long it takes and learn more about this law if you are ever hit with a surprise bill.

Some days I feel like an infiltrator... I'm participating in society as a "thin" person. They have no idea that I haven't always been one of them! 🤣

Thank you everyone for your well wishes! I totally forgot I wrote an update here... I'm one week post op today. I gained 15 lbs in water weight overnight because they had to give me tons of fluids to bring my BP up after surgery! I stayed one night in the hospital. Everything has been fine except I seem to have picked up a bug while I was there and I've been running a low grade fever, coughing, and a sore throat. So I've been hydrating well and sleeping a ton. So far the Covid tests are negative.
I haven't been able to advance my diet past purees. Everything I eat other than tofu makes me choke and feels like trying to swallow rocks. They warned me it would get worse before it gets better, so lets hope this is all normal. I have my follow up on Monday so we'll see. Living on shakes and soup again is not fun. I had enough of them the first time!! LOL
