It's coming up so quick! I officially start my pre-op diet on the 18th (my surgeon only required 1 week), however this week I've made changes to my eating habits to kinda work my way into the diet.

Good choice to make changes now! It helps in the long run!

Had surgery yesterday when I woke up from surgery I was super nauseous, my throat was so dry they gave me anti nauseous medicine still didn’t work they put something behind my ear gave me more medicine then I smelled some alcohol from hospital. Finally felt better for pain in taking Tylenol I request lowest form of pain meds I’m not hurting at all. My stomach doesn’t hurt where the operation was done only the top but it’s gas I could actually feel it bubbling I’ve burpped a few times feel much better. Today I’m supposed to drink haven’t been allowed to drink anything yet since surgery it was yesterday morning right now it’s 7 am in New York. I did brush my teeth last night and this morning made my mouth better since it was dry.

It drags at first but then boom it’s Surgery time!

Yeah I know but this part makes me feel so impatient. I like reading about everyone's journey and getting advice prior to surgery. This community is awesome.

I've had 2 x caesareans but wondered if this surgery was more painful.
I am not good with pain meds stronger than paracetamol as I get nausea
I really hope I can have a shower morning after surgery also but I imagine that will be fine as they will encourage movement.

I've had 3 C-sections and a hysterectomy and this was a lot easier. I had mine 8 days ago and the only place that hurts is where I had my drainage bulb. I got it out yesterday, but I'm still tender. I was able to shower the next day. Just remember to walk, walk, walk. The gas pains are bad in the beginning but walking eases it. I'm a recovering addict, so I hate narcotics and come home without narcotics. You can do this.

Thanks. That is reassuring. Luckily my surgeon doesn't put in a drain.

That is lucky. I've never had one before, my husband had 3 last year with his bypass surgery. It really hurt yesterday after they took it out, but I slept in bed last night and woke up feeling I could run a mile. Too bad I hate running, lol. I'm not sure how your c section was, but when I didn't walk, I got stiff. Same as with my wls.

What is everyone’s pre-op diet like? Mine is just two weeks.

Breakfast : Protein Shake
snack : Protein Shake
lunch : Protein shake
Snack : Protein Shake
dinner : 3oz of lean meat and 2.5 cups of salad with fat free dressing. BUT I find this to be just a freaking tease!!! I mean come on! How can you expect me to eat just that for dinner when all Iv had all day we’re Protein Shakes?!?! So I honestly have been skipping the food and just drink another Protein Shake for dinner.

Mine's pretty similar. Three Protein Shakes plus a meal with 3 oz portion protein, 1/2c carb, 1-2c veggies, 1stp fat. 10 Days

Has anyone had a bad reaction to Protein supplements? Whether it is shakes, clear Protein Drink or broth I double over in pain and have to run to bathroom. Was fine before surgery. One wk postop. Wondering if whey allergy.

I was just reading the 10 day diet from my nut. Says if you get nauseous to switch from a whey Protein to a soy, egg white, or plant based Protein Shake.

Hi it could be the amount of sweetener in shakes. Artificial sweeteners cause stomach pain and diarrhea. My dietician gave me a food only based plan as well as usual Optifast one but also told me about a bodiez protien Water. I got unflavored to add to water, food etc after surgery. I hate sweet things so was worried about tolerating protien shakes.

Had my surgery at 8:30 am on Wednesday. Still in the hospital but might be going home today. The worst part about waking up was the dry mouth and not being able to drink. Finally I was cleared to drink yesterday, Water has never tasted so good. The most painful thing by far is my drain. My DR doesn't always use a drain but he said there was some scar tissue of unknown cause he had to cut through and put an extra stitch, do he decided to put the drain. I might be getting the drain out today, cannot wait for this thing to be gone.

Did they let you suck on any mints or chew ice when you couldn't drink Water?

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
