Any MAY sleevers???

Recommended Posts

@moondoggie1983 Thanks :) I woke up today 3 lbs lighter so my stall has broken. I am celebrating being in the 260's! It seems unreal that only 3 1/2 weeks ago I was 298 lbs.

I am working on upping my liquids, I know it helps with the weight loss. There is where I put all my Protein too. 3 scoops of protein at 30G per scoop so I HAVE to drink it and not waste the expensive Protein Powder.

No problem! I stalled for 10 days and was really down/frustrated about it. Now I’m 5 down in a week. Nuts! I’m between my 800-1000 calories a day now and I’m getting my protein from food as a whole. My program doesn’t want us using very much Protein Powder or shakes long term. I still put a shake in my diet once in a while, but I’m hardly using my powder. The best thing I’ve found so far are these turkey burgers that have 35g of protein in each one! One lasts about a meal and then a snack. Or 2 meals depending on how I’m eating that day. Add 2 pieces of cheese and there’s another 10 more grams of protein. Good stuff! I never get anywhere near the 90g but I usually get about 70-75. Most days I get at least 50 oz of fluids, but I too still struggle there. I think it’s because I was diabetic and always thirsty before, but now I’m not. I have to make a conscious effort to remind myself to take a drink.
As for celebrating, I’m right there with you! I mean I was 311 lbs 14 months ago! I can’t believe I’m in the 220’s and so close to being a full 100 lbs lighter!!! Insane! I know I’m going to totally lose my sh*t when I hit 211. 😂
I can hardly believe we’re doing so great!! Keep me posted on how you’re doing! I really look forward to seeing your successes and celebrating with you!

@moondoggie1983 That is a really good thing - not really on Protein powder because it makes you very conscious on reading labels and getting to understand your nutrition. I need to start doing that myself. Fortunately I LOVE cheese too. I buy the string cheese in the individual packages so I know the calories and nutritional info exactly.

I00 lbs is amazing!!! Throw a party :) I am planning on a big celebration when I do. Thanks for the encouragement

Hello All,

I am a little over 5 weeks out and 30 lbs. down. I am 12 lbs. away from Onederland which I am very excited about. Some of my clothes are starting to fit big and most of my clothes are just starting to fit comfortably. This surgery has been a big confidence booster. I am feeling a bit tired but I attribute the fatigue to my lack of Protein. I'm in my soft foods stage now so I'm going to try Protein Bars because I'm tired of Protein Shakes. Mentally, cravings and hunger are getting easier. I'm really happy for everyone, this was the best decision we could've made for ourselves.

That’s awesome!! I had surgery May 7. I was 358 surgery day, 8 pounds higher the day I left the hospital, I guess from Fluid and gas...today I was 322.

2 months, 23 days since surgery. Life is really getting back to normal now. 41kg down from my January 2018 weight and 24.2kg down since surgery. Just dropped under 115 for the first time in years! Still, a long way to go from my goal but i'm getting there.

Still chugging along ok over here. Had to go shopping for a whole new spring/summer wardrobe last week (cheap stuff from k-mart / best and less since I'm only going to need it one season) because I'm now a size 16 and all my old summer clothes were size 22-26. Once I get to size 12-14 I can also start raiding my little sister's and my mum's wardrobes :)

Down to 86.8kg this morning.

Looking fabulous @taoz! I’m buying fall clothes now which is awesome :) my favorite season! I mts so much cheaper though since I can buy from regular stores. $25 bucks at NY&C vs $70 at LB or Torrid is definitely nice!!!

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞

Iʻm roughly 6 weeks post-op this morning and have begun to feel like a normal human, with a normal human body again. I started introducing solid foods and pill forms of medications/supplements a couple of weeks ago and it's really amazing to eat meals with my family again, despite the fact that my portions are so much smaller than theirs.
I live on the island of Oʻahu and spend a lot of time in the water- for exercise, for play,  and for spiritual & mental health. The day I had my month out appointment with my surgeon, I packed all my gear in my truck, anticipating his permission to get back in the ocean. The minute I walked out of that hospital I drove straight to the shore and got in that water. Hallelujah! My appointment was at 10 am. I didn't get home until after 5 pm.
I'm down 31 pounds since the day of surgery and 47 since my pre-op diet began, with that typical week long stall occurring at three weeks. I'm really starting to see some changes lately- some of my clothing is too big, some fits again. The most drastic changes I notice however are in my face. I've also noticed my endurance and flexibility increasing. I was really starting to be held up physically, and I'm so grateful that I'm seeing that turn around in such short order.
My general disposition lately is hopeful and motivated. The only thing that bugs me on a daily basis still is the way those supplements make my house smell. So stink! But I just bought a smell proof bag online that other people use to put their pot in. My house doesn't stink anymore.

Oh yeah, something I wanted to rant about, a billing dispute that cropped up 3 months ago.
Surgery was in August of 2023. A bill shows up for over $7,000 in January. WTF? I asks myself. I know that I jumped through all of the insurance hoops and verified this and triple checked that, as did the surgeon's office. All was set, and I paid all of the known costs before surgery.
A looong story short, is that an assistant surgeon that was in the process of accepting money from my insurance company touched me while I was under anesthesia. That is what the bill was for. But hey, guess what? Some federal legislation was enacted last year to help patients out when they cannot consent to being touched by someone out of their insurance network. These types of bills fall under something called, "surprise billing," and you don't have to put up with it.
      https://www.cms.gov/nosurprises
I had to make a lot of phone calls to both the surgeon's office and the insurance company and explain my rights and what the maximum out of pocket costs were that I could be liable for. Also had to remind them that it isn't my place to be taking care of all of this and that I was going to escalate things if they could not play nice with one another.
Quick ending is that I don't have to pay that $7,000+. Advocate, advocate, advocate for yourself no matter how long it takes and learn more about this law if you are ever hit with a surprise bill.
