I know there are several on this post who said they're surgery is early May, one person said surgery is 4/29 but I can't find it now. Can we please all post our dates again? I want to hear others experiences and also share my own. My surgery is 5/3/18.

I'm 2nd May (8 days to go woohoo!!). As are at least 3 others I've seen posting on these forums, however I'm in Australia so will be a half day ahead of my us buddies. Il try to make a posting ASAP after surgery if I'm up for it.

I'm annoyed that my period was due by yesterday but hasn't started yet as I get really heavy periods with nasty cramping and headaches so I really don't want that hitting while in hospital for 4-5 days. :( I'm guessing the VLCD has thrown it out of whack maybe?

I'm otherwise doing fine. The high Protein VLCD seems to be agreeing with my system as I'm really not feeling hungry before meal times despite only having 600-700 calories a day. As I said in another post, it would seem my body is happy cannibalising itself!

I have to sit down with hubby in the next few days and draw up a detailed schedule for him to keep things running while I'm in hospital (school routines for the kids, dinner plans, managing the Guinea pigs etc)

May 9 for me! Here's my stats:
food funerals: pizza, popcorn, and diet coke.
HW: 268 (5'4")
CW: 264 Hey, if I could lose weight on my own I wouldn't need surgery.
GW: 160, mini goals on the way down 199 and the weight listed on my drivers license. I have lied about it so long I actually don't know what it says.
Like like the Unjury Protein, mixes well with no chalky aftertaste. Unflavored whey does NOT mix well in Soup, but thier pea protein is great in soup. Also getting all of my Vitamins though them bc they are complete and it is the easiest way to do it.
Good luck All! We can do it!

Hey! Our height and weight is practically the same! My surgery is the 2nd, if you want to be buds!

Might as well have your period close to surgery as the pain meds will mask period discomfort. :)

Pain meds would be good, but dealing with all the heavy bleeding and the loo trips while trying not to hurt my incision points would suck.

That makes sense about coffee afterwards. I keep thinking about everything I'll miss like coffee and wine but I hope it will be different after surgery and I won't really notice it with stomach changes. I'm glad I can have coffee preop or I would find it hard to cope in morning with fighting kids, temper tantrums and moody cranky hubby.

I’m with you about coffee and wine! Makes me feel like an alcoholic that it’s so hard for me to give up. Don’t have more than two glasses ever, but I used to have one a night after the boys went to bed. So it comes down to be fat and keep getting fatter or give up wine....I choose give up wine.

I've definitely had some food funerals.

Food funerals! I’m dying 🤣 this is exactly what I’ve been doing. I’m up five pounds and start my liquids on the 30th for a May 14 surgery.

I’m ready though! Ready to be healthy and not in pain all the time!

True! But you know the folks at the hospital will make it work period or not.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞

Iʻm roughly 6 weeks post-op this morning and have begun to feel like a normal human, with a normal human body again. I started introducing solid foods and pill forms of medications/supplements a couple of weeks ago and it's really amazing to eat meals with my family again, despite the fact that my portions are so much smaller than theirs.
I live on the island of Oʻahu and spend a lot of time in the water- for exercise, for play,  and for spiritual & mental health. The day I had my month out appointment with my surgeon, I packed all my gear in my truck, anticipating his permission to get back in the ocean. The minute I walked out of that hospital I drove straight to the shore and got in that water. Hallelujah! My appointment was at 10 am. I didn't get home until after 5 pm.
I'm down 31 pounds since the day of surgery and 47 since my pre-op diet began, with that typical week long stall occurring at three weeks. I'm really starting to see some changes lately- some of my clothing is too big, some fits again. The most drastic changes I notice however are in my face. I've also noticed my endurance and flexibility increasing. I was really starting to be held up physically, and I'm so grateful that I'm seeing that turn around in such short order.
My general disposition lately is hopeful and motivated. The only thing that bugs me on a daily basis still is the way those supplements make my house smell. So stink! But I just bought a smell proof bag online that other people use to put their pot in. My house doesn't stink anymore.
