WOW, you look great!!!!

Recommended Posts

Hello,

I am sure some of you have heard this from friends at work, or church or some other place. When i hear it, it makes me realize I must have looked really bad before. I am still 335 pounds and roughly 100 pounds overweight, so when people tell me that I look great, and I still feel like I am really big it makes me think I must have looked awful before. Any of you feel the same way?

I kinda hate it. I've been hearing it a lot lately...and it's not that I think I looked so awful before....I just kinda feel offput by people focusing on the superficiality and assuming that's why I did it. How I look had next to nothing to do with my decision....but no one says....Man, you've lost weight, how are you feeling? Looks like your health is improving...look at your energy! See...that kinda stuff would make me feel encouraged. The looks crapola? Meh...could live without it.

I get it. I really do! I heard that all through Christmas, seeing my family. But my sis sat down and told me, it's not just your weight loss--that's awesome, but your eyes and skin color and the amount you can move looks like you're feeling better. Are you? And I told her yes.

So maybe it's all superficial, and maybe some are more perceptive and could tell you were struggling with feeling ok? Dunno.

Congrats! I also think you look great! ;) Cuz I copy @Seahawks Fan a lot. :)

Excellent point, I had not considered that perspective on it. Maybe they could tell I was miserable at my previous weight and always in pain. Now they can see that I am feeling better and as a result “I look great” I get it now. Thank you.

It does get old. Especially since, I don't like the attention. But I've learned to pause and realize it's Good intentions. A llot of times they're just wanting to acknowledge that the hard is paying off. (In my case anyways.. from talking to some)

I heard it for the first time in a while this week, and the individual who said it kinda gave me elevator eyes first, and THAT made me uncomfortable. But I'm walking faster and I'm not as tired as I used to be, so they might mean a little bit of that, too.

I do feel great and I am carrying myself differently. I may not be skinny but I almost feel like I am even though I am still a bit overweight. So I think people do pick up on that. I bet we were all hunched and hiding under dark tent clothing. I was.

I still sometimes can’t believe I am of pretty normal weight.

I agree with this post. I feel great and it reflects in my whole demeanor. I am not someone that likes the focus on me in the spotlight, but its a huge change and people are genuinely happy for me and wish me better health. Its not all about looks, but someone that looks less tired, in less pain, more vibrant and full of energy and confidence is "better looking".

I have only been somewhat offended once, someone asked me how much I have lost. I dont think that is anyone's business except my own, I simply said I prefer not to share that information because I dont like to focus on the numbers themselves, but on how I am feeling. I dont know if it offended her or not, and didnt really care :)

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
