I agree. It took 1 pic of myself with 4 other friends for my cousins Birthday November 2015! I never looked that big in the mirror. I was at 350 at that point. Wow! Noone believed I weighed that, but I did! The difference in 2 years? Wow! My neighbor who lives right across the street walked past me at a birthday party on Sunday and didnt recognize me at first, until she heard me talking! I am getting compliments, and since I rarely got them, I dont know how to react to them! IMG_9185.JPG IMG_0524.JPG
In case you can not tell, i am the one in purple closest to the camera.

Hannah83 - You've got this!!! It can be so exhausting trying to be something you have to fake. Definitely get into your doctor as soon as you can. Is the gym a stress reliever or something you feel like you have to do? Maybe you can take an evening off and find some foods that will stay down and taste good to you, prepare for the week, give your mind a rest. Be gentle with yourself. It takes time to find the right balance. Hugs.

Thank you. Yea I am making an emergency call tomorrow morning to get in this week to see my doc for my meds because something has to give. The gym is indeed a stress relief and I do take off days, typically I work out when I don't work, or on the weekend. And it usually helps my mood, but this is a huge chemical shift in my body. 35 pounds in 2 months is a heck of a lot and my brain is going woah boy! It feels like I want to crawl out of my skin and scream if that makes sense. But thanks.

My surgery was on 10/30 and no complications. Since this thread, my experiences are the same as most, the roll-coaster of changes from the rapid weight loss is sometimes overwhelming and I have to take a step back.

Went shopping for clothes yesterday for a cruise vacation, scale not moving but in XL tops and 14 bottoms, that is crazy good to me.

I am going to evaluate my food choices and see if I need to tweak things to get the scale moving too. I did break down and join the gym. My stomach hangs terrible low now, oh well I knew plastic surgery was in the future anyway. I have wrinkles more noticeable as well, can't be 18 again lol!!!!

Congratulations! I know what you mean. My bra size went from a 44 to a 36! I don't think I've had a 36 since high school haha

Glad to hear you are going to see your doctor. It is good you recognize the stresses in your life and are taking steps to manage it. Hugs...

I had my surgery on 10/02/17 and have lost 90 lbs so far. My closet is almost bare since I put my clothes that don't fit away. I bought two new slacks back in November and they are about to fall off. I started out with a 54 waist and I think I could fit in a 42 now. Thank god for sweats for around the house.

No. Not me.

All clear sailing since Thursday, October 12th.

Today's Monday weigh in is a stall week ... only dropped 200 grams (6.5 ounces since Monday 15th) ... my lowest loss week in 15 Mondays!

I started shedding a little more hair than usual in December. So, I decided to do a protective hairstyle, hoping to reduce any tension or unnecessary stress on my hair. After 3 weeks, I take my hair down and I have a full fist of hair. My Hair loss seemed to have doubled and now I have noticed sections of my hair thinning, almost bald. I'm almost to the point of calling it quits and purchasing a wig to wear until my hair loss stops and hair it starts growing again.

My hair is thinning anyway from age <sigh>, but no additional loss yet (crossing fingers and every body part), it usually grows fast - I have taken an extra folic acid for years now, but added the Biotin 6 months before surgery, have taken multi and supplements for years, and now massage peppermint oil on my scalp. The peppermint oil is supposed to stimulate the folicles as well as rogaine according to a gov study - take it for what it's worth, I figure it can't hurt at any rate. Also I am a slow loser. If it works, great, if not I did my best to stem the tide.

Iʻm roughly 6 weeks post-op this morning and have begun to feel like a normal human, with a normal human body again. I started introducing solid foods and pill forms of medications/supplements a couple of weeks ago and it's really amazing to eat meals with my family again, despite the fact that my portions are so much smaller than theirs.
I live on the island of Oʻahu and spend a lot of time in the water- for exercise, for play,  and for spiritual & mental health. The day I had my month out appointment with my surgeon, I packed all my gear in my truck, anticipating his permission to get back in the ocean. The minute I walked out of that hospital I drove straight to the shore and got in that water. Hallelujah! My appointment was at 10 am. I didn't get home until after 5 pm.
I'm down 31 pounds since the day of surgery and 47 since my pre-op diet began, with that typical week long stall occurring at three weeks. I'm really starting to see some changes lately- some of my clothing is too big, some fits again. The most drastic changes I notice however are in my face. I've also noticed my endurance and flexibility increasing. I was really starting to be held up physically, and I'm so grateful that I'm seeing that turn around in such short order.
My general disposition lately is hopeful and motivated. The only thing that bugs me on a daily basis still is the way those supplements make my house smell. So stink! But I just bought a smell proof bag online that other people use to put their pot in. My house doesn't stink anymore.

Oh yeah, something I wanted to rant about, a billing dispute that cropped up 3 months ago.
Surgery was in August of 2023. A bill shows up for over $7,000 in January. WTF? I asks myself. I know that I jumped through all of the insurance hoops and verified this and triple checked that, as did the surgeon's office. All was set, and I paid all of the known costs before surgery.
A looong story short, is that an assistant surgeon that was in the process of accepting money from my insurance company touched me while I was under anesthesia. That is what the bill was for. But hey, guess what? Some federal legislation was enacted last year to help patients out when they cannot consent to being touched by someone out of their insurance network. These types of bills fall under something called, "surprise billing," and you don't have to put up with it.
      https://www.cms.gov/nosurprises
I had to make a lot of phone calls to both the surgeon's office and the insurance company and explain my rights and what the maximum out of pocket costs were that I could be liable for. Also had to remind them that it isn't my place to be taking care of all of this and that I was going to escalate things if they could not play nice with one another.
Quick ending is that I don't have to pay that $7,000+. Advocate, advocate, advocate for yourself no matter how long it takes and learn more about this law if you are ever hit with a surprise bill.

Some days I feel like an infiltrator... I'm participating in society as a "thin" person. They have no idea that I haven't always been one of them! 🤣

Thank you everyone for your well wishes! I totally forgot I wrote an update here... I'm one week post op today. I gained 15 lbs in water weight overnight because they had to give me tons of fluids to bring my BP up after surgery! I stayed one night in the hospital. Everything has been fine except I seem to have picked up a bug while I was there and I've been running a low grade fever, coughing, and a sore throat. So I've been hydrating well and sleeping a ton. So far the Covid tests are negative.
I haven't been able to advance my diet past purees. Everything I eat other than tofu makes me choke and feels like trying to swallow rocks. They warned me it would get worse before it gets better, so lets hope this is all normal. I have my follow up on Monday so we'll see. Living on shakes and soup again is not fun. I had enough of them the first time!! LOL
