Damn you're doing well. We're pretty much the same weight (starting and now) but I'm still wearing size 40 jeans (still a lot better than size 52).

Keep up the good work.

I would say you are doing pretty amazing as well. Going from a 52 to a 40 is a huge drop. Those little victories like that really make it easier to stay on track.

My new girlfriend took me on a five hour hike up and down Marin County hills. I managed to keep up for the first four hours -- the last hour really kicked my butt. Pre-surgery I wouldn't have been able to keep up for 10 minutes.

That’s awesome. That had to feel great to be able to keep up with her like that. I’m sure she probably enjoyed having you be able to do that with her as well.

That is actually one of my main goals once spring sets in this year is to do a ton more hiking. I only live an hour south of the Adirondack mountains in New York and love hiking up there. The last couple years I felt like I was dragging my big butt up the mountains. This year now that I’ve lost the weight and have been working out I want to get up there as much as possible. I’m going to treat it as another part of my exercise routine. It’s amazing how many calories you can burn and how fit you can get when you are climbing a few thousand feet on a regular basis.

Sleeved 10/17. I seem to be doing decent. I had some really bad moments at the beginning of the month. But I put on jeans I could not wait to fit back into, and guess what? They are big in me now! Those are what I consider victories! The scale makes us wonder and question. I do need more fluids, i do need more exercise. It is hard to level out Protein with carbs. Trying to get that better! I need some carbs as I went from being diabetic to low blood sugar. It should even out at 6 months. I see my surgeon on Wednesday. 223. From 260 day of surgery. As of the weight of 225, I have lost a total of 125 lbs! Thats an entire person! I think that is so great, 224 to hit my realistic goal weight of 199. My unrealistic is 175. I have broad shoulders and wide hips, so I dont want to look like I have starved myself! I just want to be comfortable!

Yes.

I was smiling on the inside as I decided to try on my 52" (135cm) waist blue jeans yesterday evening. (I am down from 72" (or 182cm).

I accompanied it with a XXXL sports-team club t-shirt ... DOWN from XXXXXXL and XXXXXXXL sizes.

When I arrived at the venue, I copped a lot of positive comments from acquaintances and a couple of former work colleagues. The one who had last seen me in August 2014 was aglow with praise.

All very encouraging!

Its a great area. When I was a kid my dad used to take me hiking and canoeing in the Adirondacks.

Going through my closet and packing up old cloths to donate. I stopped a couple of times to try on stuff that used to be too tight to wear -- they're all huge. I was in total denial about how big I'd let myself get. When I was my fattest I'd convinced myself that I really wasn't THAT big. Its amazing the fairy tails we tell ourselves.

Reading this thread made me realize how daunting scales are for everyone. I try not to care much about my weight because I feel like I'm doing the right things, so I rarely check my weight at home. I basically just wait for Doctor appointments before I get weighed. I think we all have to really be proud of how far we come and know there is still a ways to go but we've literally gotten over the largest hurdle. YAAAY US!

Thanks for asking, it's the chemical shift going on hormones etc. I've got autism, mild ADHD.

Stressors let's see I am studying for an IT exam that I've failed 3 times and this is the 4th time taking it (costs about 200 plus to retake) This time with accommodations in place hopefully I'll pass this time around I was 33 points shy of passing last go round.

I am socially drained after work and don't have the go-to food, so I'll drag myself to the gym after a long day. I bite people's heads off, probably need a medication adjustment can't see my doc until February however because she's always booked.

I'm doing my nails as something nice for myself but I'm ripping off my cuticles again because it's a stress relief (short term)

I truly am trying so hard to remain positive, and that too is draining. I sleep after I get back from the gym, (after showering of course) then I turn around and go to bed after having napped for two hours.

Wake up at night end up having cheese only for it to be spat back up again (I either spit it out or it is spat up from my stomach)

Rince, wash, repeat.

Hannah83 - You've got this!!! It can be so exhausting trying to be something you have to fake. Definitely get into your doctor as soon as you can. Is the gym a stress reliever or something you feel like you have to do? Maybe you can take an evening off and find some foods that will stay down and taste good to you, prepare for the week, give your mind a rest. Be gentle with yourself. It takes time to find the right balance. Hugs.

I agree. It took 1 pic of myself with 4 other friends for my cousins Birthday November 2015! I never looked that big in the mirror. I was at 350 at that point. Wow! Noone believed I weighed that, but I did! The difference in 2 years? Wow! My neighbor who lives right across the street walked past me at a birthday party on Sunday and didnt recognize me at first, until she heard me talking! I am getting compliments, and since I rarely got them, I dont know how to react to them! IMG_9185.JPG IMG_0524.JPG

On day 4 of the 2 week liquid pre-op diet. Surgery scheduled for June 11th.
Soooo I am coming to a realization
of something and I'm not sure what to do about it. For years the only thing I've enjoyed is eating. We rarely do anything or go anywhere and if we do it always includes food. Family comes over? Big family dinner! Go camping? Food! Take a short ride or trip? Food! Holiday? Food! Go out of town for a Dr appointment? Food! When we go to a new town we don't look for any attractions, we look for restaurants we haven't been to. Heck, I look forward to getting off work because that means it's almost supper time. Now that I'm drinking these pre-op shakes for breakfast, lunch, and supper I have nothing to look forward to.  And once I have surgery on June 11th it'll be more of the same shakes. Even after pureed stage, soft food stage, and finally regular food stage, it's going to be a drastic change for the rest of my life. I'm giving up the one thing that really brings me joy. Eating. How do you cope with that? What do you do to fill that void? Wow. Now I'm sad.

Life as a big person had limited my life to what I knew I could manage to do each day. That was eat. I hadn't anything else to look forward to. So my eating choices were the best I could dream up. I planned the cooking in managable lots in my head and filled my day with and around it.

Now I have a whole new big, bigger, biggest, best days ever. I am out there with those skinny people doing stuff i could never have dreamt of. Food is now an after thought. It doesn't consume my day. I still enjoy the good home cooked food but I eat smaller portions. I leave food on my plate when I am full. I can no longer hear my mother's voice saying eat it all up, ther are starving children in Africa who would want that!

I still cook for family feasts, I love cooking. I still do holidays but I have changed from the All inclusive drinking and eating everything everyday kind to Self catering accommodation. This gives me the choice of cooking or eating out as I choose. I rarely drink anymore as I usually travel alone now and I feel I need to keep aware of my surroundings.

I don't know at what point my life expanded, was it when I lost 100 pounds? Was it when I left my walking stick at home ? Was it when I said yes to an outing instead of finding an excuse to stay home ? i look back at my last five years and wonder how loosing weight has made such a difference. Be ready to amaze yourself.

BTW, the liquid diet sucks, one more day and you are over the worst. You can do it.

Three months and four days ago... I was in Costa Rica having a life changing surgery! Yesterday we had a followup visit with Dr. Esmeral via video chat and this morning my middle number changed.  I'm down 47lbs and two pants sizes. I can wear a Large tshirt for the first time in like... 14 years! Woot!! Everything is going great. I have zero regrets. I went down to the riverwalk with a friend and walked 2 miles on Monday without even getting fatigued. And no more snoring or chugging pickle juice for crazy leg cramps! I need to go to the gym more... I'm making new shirts next week so that will motivate me. LOL But I'm also just not as TIRED all the time! I have a LONG way to go...but seeing the progress on the scales and in the mirror is a huge motivator!! Thank you all for cheering me on and supporting me!!
