Am I too old to have VSG

Recommended Posts

Just wondering if I'm too old to have VSG.....This all part of the "freak-out" before surgery....

I'll be 59 in February. Any others in this age bracket that had the surgery and did well?

I am 54 years old, I had my surgery January 27, 2016. I have lost 135 lbs. I am now 147 lbs and have been happily maintaining my weight for the last 10 months. I don't think you are ever to old to make positive changes within your self. You will feel so much better and the list will only go on from there! Best thing I have ever done for myself!!

I feel the same way -- I am 53 and I have 30 more years in me, if I live as long as my family. Thats a lot of years!

I was past my 61st birthday when my surgery was done. I kick myself for waiting. I've still got some more work to do but feeling better than I have in many years. Had health issues because of my weight but much less now and getting better. Good luck!

I was 57 and it’s the best decision I ever have made for my health and well-being. I had the sleeve last May 22 and I’m down 50 pounds in 5 months. I feel great, I’m happy with my looks again, and I still want to lose another 30 pounds. You can do it! Only sorry I didn’t do it sooner!

I am 62 and sleeved yesterday. My surgeon says the oldest person he performed it on was 76 and the youngest 17 - hope this helps.

In my support group there was a 75 year old man planning a sleeve. So age is not an issue, as the current surgical technologies are very advanced.

No you are definitely not too old. I am 68 now and am now almost 3 months post sleeve. I think I am losing slower than a lot of people but that comes with being older.

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
