In general, naturally-occurring fats are good: nuts, avocados, coconut oil, butter, olive oil, etc.

Industrial man-made fats (shortening, margarine, trans-fats, hydrogenated oils) are not so good.

Calm down...you're not failing at this. Reasonable expectations are important.

The overwhelming majority of my losses were single-digit (1 to 7 pounds monthly). It took me 17 months to lose 100 pounds. I only weighed myself once a month.

The weight will come off. Counting fat grams is pedantic and unnecessary, IMHO. My bariatric program only required me to count Protein and nothing else.

Stalls and plateaus are common, but you won't know you're stalled unless you weigh yourself too frequently. Sleeved weight loss happens in an irregular pattern: we lose pounds, hold onto pounds at times, then stall and plateau before dropping more pounds.

Again, realistic expectations are imperative. Good luck to you. :)

Dont over do the deli meats though. High in sodium I think and can cause Water retention. All in moderation.

I just had my nutrition seminar and yes, good fats are those occurring in nature. Like others here, my program has us track Protein and fluids, not fats, but we are encouraged to seek lower fat protein sources (so why hubby just order 10 pounds of fresh bratwurst - ugh - he's generally very supportive but doesn't think while watching football!). So lean deli meats and things like chicken and fish are desireable. Sausage and high fat pork like ribs would be less so. But we can have those occasionally - esp since we're only eating a few ounces.

I don't track fats at all either but I try to avoid a lot of bad fats. I'm 9 months post op, down 86 pounds from surgery (116 total) and 10 pounds from my initial goal. Also I rarely lose more than 10 pounds a month so I think 7 in 3 weeks is good. I've found that my weightloss has no rhythm to it. This past month I was stalled a week, lost 1 pound the next week, 1 pound the following week and 4 the next. I weigh myself once a week

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
