When will I feel strong again?!

Recommended Posts

Hello everyone

I'm on my 18th day post op VSG and I feel very very weak. I can't walk from my room to the living room, 8 feel dizzy, weak and a weird burning sensation in my head that lasts for five seconds then if I don't hold on to something I can easily fall.

I can't eat anything at all except for 2 spoons of an omelette.

Is there something wrong with me or is this normal? When can I feel good again. I can't go to work and I'm miserable.

You do need to call your surgeon, or maybe just go to the hospital. I had a similar experience. My head got a burning sensarion, i got dizzy, black spots temporarily blurring my vision. I was dehydrated and my blood pressure dropped too low, ended up in the hospital 3 days. I hope you feel better, just make sure you get checked out and stay hydrated

I called my doctor and he said that the reason is that I don't eat at all. I need to eat to counter the low energy but I can't eat anything. I don't know what to do.

Go to the ER to get some fluids. You don't have to EAT to keep your energy up. Fluids that have Protein and calories will work, but it sounds like you are too far gone with dehydration to be able to "catch up". You go on and get yourself to the hospital so they can fill up up with fluids, then you can start over with trying to get your consumption up.

Get someone else to drive you. And if you don't have anyone, call a cab or even an ambulance.

Try drinking milk, if you can tolerate it.

Wow, Berry! That's the right answer!

Yesterday I went to the ER and had and IV and I can tell you, so soon as the bag was half full I felt like myself again!

Thank you very much, I was in such a miserable state not being able to even walk or stand.

Thank you again.

Oh I'm so happy you went and are feeling better! It's amazing how bad dehydration can make you feel.

Just keep on drinking... (it's a full time job these first months!)

Problem is it doesn't last that long. Today is 12 hours after IV and I'm starting to get weak bit by bit and I'm sure by the night I will be back. Well, it sucks but at least I can remedy it temporarily.

Strap a bottle to your hand and take a sip every couple minutes. IV bags are very temporary, so you have to get a handle on drinking.

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
