I have done my research...... and I am not talking a day or two, I am talking years.... 5....5 years. I am shell fish free, a celiac, dairy intolerant, and now soy. I have been grow tumors since I was I very little. This operation, is many ways, may be the only way I can try and live a more normal life. I have asked so many questions, and continue to ask questions, because I know, "not every one is the same" ..... but why is my counselor trying to almost talk me out of it. she keep throwing all the worst cast in my face, and then all she try to trip me up by asking questions to me like she does not know the answer already. DAMN if I wanted people to debate me with my choice to try and get healthier I would tell people who sell plans like 21 day fix...... Why is it so hard for people to past judgment on me cause I am over weight, and not as healthy as I want..... but as soon as I through in the towel, cause ever diet, exercise, and life style goal have not worked enough they get mad again. Now that I have gone to the point where I am going to change my digestive patterns to add in my ability to lose the fat, they are screaming about that. over and done with people not being happy for me! its not like my weight problem is effecting them!

Woman! Do what is best for you and be secure in your decision. I understand what you mean about judgements. People would say to Me "but your not even big." I hated that. I wouldn't say that to anyone. It's about my health and obviously "big" enough to have comorbidities amd I was living my life in pain and sheltered. I was sleeved on 8/28 and I already feel solo much better and off my meds.

You do not need to justify your decision. My psych three things at me too. I ignored her and stuck to my plan. Keep it moving in the direction you want to go in.

As far as the men, hell.....there are way too many out there to worry about the ones that say they won't talk to you. You'd probably want one that would like to keep himself healthy so you would compliment each other.

Exactly.....

I have gotten "you're not even that big" too. Talk about annoying [emoji58] they don't have to live with my pain- like the reason I'm up right now is my aching knee (arthritis) woke me & I had to get my knee brace and take a Tylenol. Day 5 preop- I sorta kinda see a halfway light in the tunnel 🤣

- No idea what I'm doing but I'm here! :)

Find another counselor and a baraiatric center of excellence with the whole team of people dedicated to your success. If your pcp is not on board get another one. Don't let anyone stand in your way. Blow past them and make this happen. It's your health, your body and your life. Tell everyone who has an opinion to shove it. Keep your surgery a secret and only tell who you count on for support.
Beet decision I ever made. Mine is still a secret and will continue to be. If someone says something negative to me I am ready willing and able to bite their effing head off!
Take care and be strong.
Make your life the one you want!!!

Its all just over whelming. I know I have tried and tried to beat the scale at it own game. Now I can't "work out", but I can walk .....so I walk every chance I get. even If its only for a hundred yard or so. I count my calories. I keep a food journal, and with the exception of my crystal light consumption (now mind you and most that's 50 calories a day), I don't lie about anything. I own it! She has told me the negative effects weight loss procedures has had on her loved ones. But I know the risks. I know I have to be on point the first few months for sure. I need to be there for my son, otherwise I won't live to see 40

Ditch that counselor, she is counter productive and bias. Make your own roads and go for it!!!

This is precisely why I am not going to tell anyone about my plans -- it is a big and personal decision we have to make without everybody else's biases and hangups weighing in.

The fact that the counselor is bringing up negative experiences that are personal to get shoes her inability to be free of bias. I'd probably tell her that too. Just because those things happened to people in her life doesn't mean it will happen to you. Find another counselor.

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞

Iʻm roughly 6 weeks post-op this morning and have begun to feel like a normal human, with a normal human body again. I started introducing solid foods and pill forms of medications/supplements a couple of weeks ago and it's really amazing to eat meals with my family again, despite the fact that my portions are so much smaller than theirs.
I live on the island of Oʻahu and spend a lot of time in the water- for exercise, for play,  and for spiritual & mental health. The day I had my month out appointment with my surgeon, I packed all my gear in my truck, anticipating his permission to get back in the ocean. The minute I walked out of that hospital I drove straight to the shore and got in that water. Hallelujah! My appointment was at 10 am. I didn't get home until after 5 pm.
I'm down 31 pounds since the day of surgery and 47 since my pre-op diet began, with that typical week long stall occurring at three weeks. I'm really starting to see some changes lately- some of my clothing is too big, some fits again. The most drastic changes I notice however are in my face. I've also noticed my endurance and flexibility increasing. I was really starting to be held up physically, and I'm so grateful that I'm seeing that turn around in such short order.
My general disposition lately is hopeful and motivated. The only thing that bugs me on a daily basis still is the way those supplements make my house smell. So stink! But I just bought a smell proof bag online that other people use to put their pot in. My house doesn't stink anymore.

Oh yeah, something I wanted to rant about, a billing dispute that cropped up 3 months ago.
Surgery was in August of 2023. A bill shows up for over $7,000 in January. WTF? I asks myself. I know that I jumped through all of the insurance hoops and verified this and triple checked that, as did the surgeon's office. All was set, and I paid all of the known costs before surgery.
A looong story short, is that an assistant surgeon that was in the process of accepting money from my insurance company touched me while I was under anesthesia. That is what the bill was for. But hey, guess what? Some federal legislation was enacted last year to help patients out when they cannot consent to being touched by someone out of their insurance network. These types of bills fall under something called, "surprise billing," and you don't have to put up with it.
      https://www.cms.gov/nosurprises
I had to make a lot of phone calls to both the surgeon's office and the insurance company and explain my rights and what the maximum out of pocket costs were that I could be liable for. Also had to remind them that it isn't my place to be taking care of all of this and that I was going to escalate things if they could not play nice with one another.
Quick ending is that I don't have to pay that $7,000+. Advocate, advocate, advocate for yourself no matter how long it takes and learn more about this law if you are ever hit with a surprise bill.
