Calling all October sleevers!!

Recommended Posts

I’m scheduled for 10/20 (which is also my birthday!) I’m still waiting on insurance approval, so I’m a little worried about that. I should hear back next week. I’ve been doing a ton of reading and research and I feel pretty prepared, although I’m still nervous as heck. I’ll probably panic once it’s actually time. But for now I’m okay. Just ready to get this over with so I can start my new life!

I'm scheduled for Oct 24th. I feel like these next two weeks are going to drag because of my anticipation for this surgery. I started this entire process in January of this year and after 10 months I am beyond ready to get this journey started. I love this site, it has so much information and amazing people!!!

Just saw my doctor for pre-op and he said that I didn't have to do a pre-op diet. I just cannot gain weight before my surfery. I may do it a couple days before just to be on the safe side.

You, too!!! I've been getting ready for the liquid diet, by gradually replacing meals with shakes, I cut out carbs the first part of August, so that's been good, too. I'm excited, nervous, scared, and determined, all at the same time!

Wonderful!!! I decided to start adjusting a little at a time, because I don't want to sabotage myself. My pre-op starts on the 12th. Are you guys going to do Premier, or Optifast?

I was just released after getting my sleeve put in yesterday at 10am. I'm sore but it's manageable. I wanna let everybody in on something. Everything is great until u wake up from anaesthesia. Upon waking up I don't care who you are it's shocking. I felt like I got ran over by a mack truck. The pain is bad and u really can't move for 5-6 hours with IV's and monitors hooked up too you. But don't worry it only goes up from there. My temperature was high until this morning so my doctor decided to release me. I'm now at home and resting which is way better than being stuck in the hospital confined. My abdominal region is very sore. From what I heard and read every day improves drastically. Just be prepared for the day of surgery that is by far theeee worst day. It's only up from here. Just remember this is a major surgery on a major organ so healing is done from the inside out. Good luck to everybody and I'm looking forward to seeing how everybody's surgery went.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
