How soon were you able to drive?

Recommended Posts

I heard there may be limits on driving. Clearly, I need a ride to/from hospital. How soon after surgery were able to drive?

I was told I would be able to drive as long as I was not taking any of the prescribed pain meds.

I was cleared to drive as soon I was off any pain medication they prescribed and 2 weeks after surgery. I took longer than that to actually drive because I was so exhausted and tired all the time for the first 3 1/2 weeks.

I drove myself home from the hospital on the day I was sleeved since my procedure was a same-day surgery. I was fine enough to start driving immediately.

Most hospitals/surgery centers require a responsible driver to release you to, introversion's experience is unusual. Heck I had to have a driver after my colonoscopy!

Yeah it's usually when you're not taking any narcotic pain meds. I drove at the one week mark.

That is odd they would allow drive home yourself. I was drugged for like 2 days from the anesthesia. I even had to get a ride home from my outpatient endoscopy, good thing nothing happened. I do also say this knowing the Houston traffic.

I was required to be released to a responsible driver after both my endoscopy and sleeve procedures. However, both of these friends lived somewhat far from me (45+ miles) and driving me home would have been a chore for them.

During each instance, once the friend and I were out in the parking lot, we went our separate ways: they drove away in their vehicles and I drove home in my car.

Surgery Tuesday. Home Wedensday. Drove Friday to give my self a full 24 hours without narcotics in my system. Climbed in and out of my Ford Expedition no problem. No pillow, no nothing. Went grocery shopping for the family. Made teenagers carry the groceries in and got one of those nice kids at the market to load them into my car.

Once I was able to go without pain meds and my incisions stopped hurting I was able to drive.

After about 4 days. I didn't feel clear headed enough even though I was not on pain meds, I just drove to pick up my child from camp and went straight home. I was fine but like someone who had one drink, in my level of alertness. I am still less alert and sharp two weeks from surgery, though I drive every day now. Anesthetic definitely affects people.

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
