Hi Gals!
I haven't come to visit since I joined the group,as I have found myself in the same boat.
I have been down and ignoring myself since. But I am now inspired by all you women and want to get back on track. I should take a pic of the scale and post in the morning. Because it's almost 2 pm and I'd be crazy to weigh myself now lol

I'm being put through a test that I'm planning on passing. We are having dinner at 54th Street.
Starting with salad, grilled shrimp and steak with stream veggies. NO bread NO BREAD

@tfarr, just take baby steps. One small change & in time, as you see progress, the other steps will follow.

I am not in love with exercising but I don't hate it. Sometimes it's just a chore to get up at 5am to work out. I'd much rather hug my pillow. But, I will say, I feel emotionally better (happier) AFTER I exercise. Working out may help with the "down feeling". I believe when we're feeling down, it's so much easier to make bad food choices. So try to get out of that rut.

I did it. Yay! I had a tiny taste of baked potato and a pinch of rye bread. I told the waiter to remove from table. So glad the loaded my husband potato; I like mine with salt and pepper. I'm getting much better at listening to my stomach when I'm full. I got leftovers again. [emoji4]

Hello my fellow WLS peeps. I am on a mission to lose 50 pounds that I have regained. I am feeling hopeful and know that getting back to basics will do it. I would like this thread to be a place where we can come and be transparent and accountable. I plan on checking in with a weigh in every Monday starting tomorrow. If you want to join me, let's do this!
Heightist weight: 289
Lowest: 157
Goal: 150
Attached is my before surgery pic, me at my lowest and where I am today. IMG_0450.JPG.12aad880df5ece246b97f514b76006f1.JPG

Back to the basics is just getting back to what the rules were after surgery. Protein first (80oz a day) no drinking with food or 30 mins before or after meals. No snacking, drinking at least 64 oz Of Water and exercising. I know for me the weight came back because I stopped following these rules and started eating a lot of carbs and sugary foods. That's what back to basics means for me [emoji4]

Buy Quest chips and keep them in your desk at work. You can eat those when everyone else is eating regular chips. They are 130 calories, 20g of Protein, and 2 net carbs.

Finally bought those expensive bags of chips. Most of the chips are in crumbs. They do have a decent taste but thank God I am not craving chips any longer.

Good morning friends,

So the scale is showing that I have gained from last week but I know I am retaining fluids as it's that time of the month. I have been going to the gym 5 times a week and feel great, my eating this past weekend was decent but I didn't follow my plan to the T. I wish I could have handled my cravings better as I know when I'm about to start my menstruation because I want to eat everything in sight!!! I am really proud of myself and know that there has been a mental shift because typically if I see a gain, I would give up and binge for a few weeks and start back over when I couldn't tolerate myself anymore- a cycle I know all too well. I am going to continue doing what I am doing and know that it will pay off because this time around I aim to make a lifestyle change and not just a temporary fix. We can do it ladies!!! I believe in each and everyone of us, we will succeed! IMG_0688.JPG

Stick with it Mariela! You are amazing! Your exercise regime is brilliant and your hard work will pay off and you will see the scales go down.
That dreaded time of the month has been enough to throw me off plan so many times!
We can do this! [emoji173]

Mariela, you also have to keep in mind that as you are working out, you may be losing fat and gaining muscle, and of course muscle weighs more than fat, so that could also be the reason for the increase in the scale. Just continue doing what you are doing; I know that circle of doom all too well myself, but I've been attempting to stay away from the carby stuff and go more for the real food; fresh fruits, veggies, and Protein. I haven't budged a pound yet, but I'm sticking to it. We are all here for each other. We have all been in this abusive relationship with food for way too long, and we've all gone through a major surgery to change our way with that relationship to undo it now.

Thank you for your support [emoji16]. I am constantly beating myself up. My way of life has always been " all or nothing", I'm a very black and white. As silly as this may seem but, when I read " one small change at a time" really clicked and made sense. I'll eliminate my cracker consumption. That's a true crutch lately.
I weighed myself yesterday. I've gained 10 lbs.

Do you think they were worth buying? I was thinking of picking some up- my husband has his snack bag of chips in the house and I thought it might be good to have an alternative near by in case my will started to be tested

Iʻm roughly 6 weeks post-op this morning and have begun to feel like a normal human, with a normal human body again. I started introducing solid foods and pill forms of medications/supplements a couple of weeks ago and it's really amazing to eat meals with my family again, despite the fact that my portions are so much smaller than theirs.
I live on the island of Oʻahu and spend a lot of time in the water- for exercise, for play,  and for spiritual & mental health. The day I had my month out appointment with my surgeon, I packed all my gear in my truck, anticipating his permission to get back in the ocean. The minute I walked out of that hospital I drove straight to the shore and got in that water. Hallelujah! My appointment was at 10 am. I didn't get home until after 5 pm.
I'm down 31 pounds since the day of surgery and 47 since my pre-op diet began, with that typical week long stall occurring at three weeks. I'm really starting to see some changes lately- some of my clothing is too big, some fits again. The most drastic changes I notice however are in my face. I've also noticed my endurance and flexibility increasing. I was really starting to be held up physically, and I'm so grateful that I'm seeing that turn around in such short order.
My general disposition lately is hopeful and motivated. The only thing that bugs me on a daily basis still is the way those supplements make my house smell. So stink! But I just bought a smell proof bag online that other people use to put their pot in. My house doesn't stink anymore.

Oh yeah, something I wanted to rant about, a billing dispute that cropped up 3 months ago.
Surgery was in August of 2023. A bill shows up for over $7,000 in January. WTF? I asks myself. I know that I jumped through all of the insurance hoops and verified this and triple checked that, as did the surgeon's office. All was set, and I paid all of the known costs before surgery.
A looong story short, is that an assistant surgeon that was in the process of accepting money from my insurance company touched me while I was under anesthesia. That is what the bill was for. But hey, guess what? Some federal legislation was enacted last year to help patients out when they cannot consent to being touched by someone out of their insurance network. These types of bills fall under something called, "surprise billing," and you don't have to put up with it.
      https://www.cms.gov/nosurprises
I had to make a lot of phone calls to both the surgeon's office and the insurance company and explain my rights and what the maximum out of pocket costs were that I could be liable for. Also had to remind them that it isn't my place to be taking care of all of this and that I was going to escalate things if they could not play nice with one another.
Quick ending is that I don't have to pay that $7,000+. Advocate, advocate, advocate for yourself no matter how long it takes and learn more about this law if you are ever hit with a surprise bill.

Some days I feel like an infiltrator... I'm participating in society as a "thin" person. They have no idea that I haven't always been one of them! 🤣

Thank you everyone for your well wishes! I totally forgot I wrote an update here... I'm one week post op today. I gained 15 lbs in water weight overnight because they had to give me tons of fluids to bring my BP up after surgery! I stayed one night in the hospital. Everything has been fine except I seem to have picked up a bug while I was there and I've been running a low grade fever, coughing, and a sore throat. So I've been hydrating well and sleeping a ton. So far the Covid tests are negative.
I haven't been able to advance my diet past purees. Everything I eat other than tofu makes me choke and feels like trying to swallow rocks. They warned me it would get worse before it gets better, so lets hope this is all normal. I have my follow up on Monday so we'll see. Living on shakes and soup again is not fun. I had enough of them the first time!! LOL

Still purging all of the larger clothing. This morning, a shirt that I ADORED wearing ended up on top. Hard to let it go, but it was also hard to let go of those habits that also no longer serve my highest good. Onward and upward!
