Hello from the loser's bench... sleeved in Mexico [emoji322][emoji322]

Recommended Posts

Just wanted to post and say... I DID IT!!!! I am officially sleeved. It feels so surreal like my mind still hasn't registered that I'm here and it's done. Recovery is going AMAZING. No gas pain besides really slight discomfort in my shoulders (which feels better than the acid reflux. Slight discomfort in one area but it's manageable. The staff are amazing!!! I had a hiatal hernia (which I suspected but it hadn't been confirmed until the endoscopy was done yesterday so doctor repaired that while he did the sleeve. I woke easily from anesthesia and have been awake since. There are 4 of us here and out of the 3 of us who had surgery my recovery has been the easiest and fastest. For those second surgery in Mexico DON'T... the care has been nothing short of the best I've had ever. For those second guessing having surgery... DON'T!!! I do not regret a thing!!

Glad to hear you are doing great! I had pretty much the same experience in Mexico, but in my "wing" of the hospital, out of the 6 patients, I also had a very easy recovery with little pain or discomfort, lots of energy, etc. compared to others, some who were suffering quite badly with gas pain/fatigue. I broke out in tears at one point because I didn't know what was wrong with me - everything I read on these boards matched what everyone else was going through on my floor, why was I not experiencing any of this? Did they even cut out my stomach? Maybe these were fake scars. My doctor laughed and told me to be grateful that I was one of the lucky ones who had no pain or complications afterwards, then showed me a picture of my cut out stomach to reassure me that the surgery, in fact, took place. I really wish I had been prepared for no problems! ;)

A guy sleeved the day before me had to come back over from the recovery house because he was in so much pain and they ended up taking him back again. I am so incredibly grateful for a smooth recovery.

When I arrived at the San Diego airport, and went out front to await the drive to the hospital, there was a van from another bariatric surgery company that arrived with postop patients. 2 patients were dropped off in order to fly home. They both moved so slowly and gingerly, hunched over, gripping their abdomens. They sat as soon as they could.. after walking about 20ft.

I thought to myself Holy ****, what have I signed up for?! That will be me in 5 days.

How wrong I was! No one would have been able to tell I had surgery when I flew home. My husband was shocked at how well I was doing when he picked me up from the airport.

Everyone has a different journey, but some are lucky! I didn't even have trouble putting on my compression stockings for the flight home. (Was worried about that).

Congrats! I hope you have a wonderful recovery and journey. I know you said something about going to A Slimmer Me. Did you end up going there or somewhere else?

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
