So discouraged! Revision from Sleeve to Bypass...Yeah right!!

Recommended Posts

Soooo....I *supposedly* had revision from sleeve to bypass on April 3rd. I started my post op week 5 yesterday. I have only lost 13lbs. I have no restriction and can eat anything. I can chug liquids...no problem. My sleeve had developed into a hiatal hernia and created a pouch that the dr removed. Aside from the pain from the incisions and sutured muscles, I feel nothing. I have asked the dr repeatedly was he sure that he did the bypass and he said yes. I am staying under 1000 calories, low carbs and getting in my Protein. My liquids are at about 55oz. I just looked at my Upper GI report from after surgery and I am thinking about calling the radiology dept to confirm that I did indeed have gastric bypass. I have no dumping, no nausea...nothing. My weight has been at the same weight since week 2 post op. It fluctuates daily: 1lb lost one day, 3lb gain the next day, etc. Ireakky just feel like I am on a diet. All of this for nothing!! :(

I would call the radiology dept., just to set your mind at ease.

I'm glad your recovery is going so well! Revisions do tend to lose less weight, but you are mostly just in the 3 week stall for now.

I did not have a revision but with RNY it took until I started eating dense foods around week 6 (chicken, beef, etc) for me to feel the fullness.

I also had the revision from sleeve to RNY. you won't lose weight like you did after your first surgery. i was told i'd lose some but not a lot like i did before and that has been the case. At first it felt like i had no restriction but as time went by the restriction came back. Give yourself some time, you are still recovering from surgery. Keep doing the diet and the weifht will come out.

@Berry78 I am going to go and get a copy of the report and film and have another look at it for my own peace of mind. Thank you!

@Airstream88 I am eating dense foods with no problem at week 5. I am sensing a little fullness but thats it. :-(

@klingie84 You will do fine! Prayers for success being sent your way! xoxo

@1Day1Life4Now THANK YOU!!!! My doctor did say that after my 3rd time of accusing him of not doing the surgery, and your confirmation makes me feel better. ALOT better. Now I know what to expect. Its still a little upsetting but...hey it is what it is.

THANKS GUYS!!!!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
