Anyone get lightheaded?

Recommended Posts

I am over 2 weeks post op and down over 25lbs. The past 2 days I have been getting very lightheaded as I stand up. it gets to the point on 2 occasions I had to sit back down. Anyone have this issue and should I be concerned? Im getting plenty of fluids. Could this simply be from the rapid weight loss?

Yes for sure, & if your lying down for longer periods and jump up quicker then it gets worse. It'll likely go away, check your blood pressure sitting & standing. Your blood pressure might be a little low from the sudden weight loss and you likely have less sodium in your system. Drink some light Gatorade , drinking Water hydrates you, but you still need proper electrolytes.

It scared the crap out of me, I got up and walked to the door to see the kids outside playing in the snow and I got lightheaded and dizzy, I almost blacked out..

Well if it's that bad, you should maybe get your blood work done, if you try an electrolyte drink, keep in mind , you gotta drink a lot . Can you check your own BP. Be very careful!

I have this every day. Specifically, when I get up in the morning, and when I get out of the tanning bed. I'm about 5.5 months post-op, and it has been this way all along.

Could be orthostatic hypotension (drop in bp when you go from laying down or sitting to standing).

Especially if you get up too fast.

I've started getting it since being on this liquid diet but besides the diet my weight has dumped significantly and I've been feeling better thus jumping out of bed when I get up. Also lying down a lot more because of low cals causing more tiredness. It doesn't happen when I slow it down.

As long as it goes away in a few seconds I'm sure it's fine. If that dizziness sticks around it might be worth a doctor visit to ensure it isn't something else.

It does go away in a few seconds.

I'm so glad you posted this question because I have been having issues too! I have an office job and I do a lot of filing and almost every day I get light headed when I bend over to file in the bottom. Sometimes I even get lightheaded just getting up from my desk.

I had the same issue but around the 3rd week. I was down 25lbs, and my BP dropped quickly. With my medication, my BP was typically around 132/88. When went to have it checked, it was 107/71. My doctor adjusted my prescription, and things have been fine. I'm hoping to get off the medication completely

Was just diagnosed with orthostatic hypotension only thing they tell me is drink more and move slowly from laying down or sitting. My bp is around 110/70 sitting immediately standing 90/ 55 on average

I'm four and one half years out. I get dizzy all the time. I ended up in the hospital. Low potassium. Electrolytes out of balance. Iron down. They kept me a week. Even had a blood transfusion. Don't really know what's causing it, doctor doesn't either. I now drink Gatorade. Take iron.

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
