Weight Gain After Sleeve

Recommended Posts

Hi All,

I am petrified. I was sleeved 4/13. I went from 244lbs to my lowest 139lbs. I must say it was the best thing I've ever done. However, I am almost four years post surgery & I have gained 15lbs. I'm freaking out. I was in a car accident in Nov 2016 & it has slowed me down, I picked back up some bad habits, junk food, fries foods & I'm not working out due to herniated, bulging disc in my neck & back.

I've been reading about the pouch reset & was thinking of doing that. Today, I started drinking Slim Fast shakes for Breakfast. I made a cabbage Soup, by the way which is very good. I'm ready to do everything to get 10-15lbs off.

Please if you've been through this, share! Give me some advice.

Thanks in advance!

Chay

Weight B4 Sleeve 4/2013: 244lbs

I was sleeved 10/2014. Never got to goal, lowest weight was 167/168 but loved how I looked and wore a size 10. I have regained 11# and am having the hardest time losing the weight! So I feel your pain!

one of my fellow sleevers mentioned a website bariatriceating.com. I think they offer a reset program( to help w/regain) and a Facebook support group as well.

I plan to look into that as an option. Good luck to you!

I have gained almost 20 lbs and I'm not happy about it. Today I started the Bariatric Eating reset pouch and I have been doing okay so far today. I hope it works out for you.

I'm in the weightloss phase. Congratulations to each of you for recognizing your regain and working to take control before it becomes 25, 30 or more pounds. You can stop this.

Lap-banded and love it!

It's only 15 pounds. I gained 6 pounds 7 months later. Find your information package from before when you had the surgery and read it all over again. It reminds us of what small thins we shouldn't be doing which we forget over time. I knew what i had done wrong and how to get back on track. You can do it too.
Just refresh your mind with that information and treat your body as if it were going through the entire procedure again. I am sure you will lose the weight.

Sam's club sells Premier Protein, 30 g of Protein many drs recommend for pre-op. Two a day and chicken/fish/meat 4 oz and veggies at night. Good reboot, like pre-op.

Congrats on the ongoing success!

Maintenance is very hard until you find the right balance for you. Glad you are getting a hold of the extra 15 before it becomes more.

Instead of things like slim fast shakes and cabbage Soup, why not go back to what worked in the beginning? LOW carbs, high Protein and non-starchy veggies. NO Pasta, flour, sugar, potatoes, rice, etc... I have recently discovered, that, for me, a bit of fat in my diet helps with satiety, maintenance, weight loss and consuming fewer calories in the long run. I also continue to leave a 1/2 hour before/after eating of no liquids, I use tiny plates/utensils, eat slow & stop at the 1st sign of full.

I too had gained some from falling back into old habits, I am now getting back on track and feeling better!

The best part about my sleeve is that I don't have to fad diet anymore.

Why not just eat dense Protein? Steak grilled chicken, lamb chops, pork chops, etc. You will be more satisfied for longer. All these resets programs focus on liquids. That might work for people with RNY, I don't know but it seems really counter productive for a sleever. Simple dense protein, just dense protein. The weight will come off.

Liquids go right through my sleeve and offer zero satisfaction and don't remind me of the most important part of my sleeve, besides the Gherlin removal, the restriction.

And once you are smaller 15 pounds is a lot of weight, it is at least one dress size, maybe 2. There is advantage in weighing yourself daily so if you are up say 5 pounds, you can stop it before it gets to be too much.

This is what I'm thinking about.....no more fad and yo-yo dieting!!! That's what got us where we are/were in the first place right? It's a TOTAL lifestyle change.

Hello Weight, I'm only one year out but I am a stickler on what I eat. Dannon light yogurt ( 80 cal) every morning 1 cup coffee black. Run 4 miles every day lunch turkey cheese wrap, supper Protein of some kind and salad . Desert sugar free pop cycle 15 cal. 96 oz Water during day. No carbs no sugar haven't had fast food in over a year. I like feeling better then the food tastes. Went passed my goal. Still crave certain foods but don't eat them. Sometimes a snack will be slice of cheese or turkey Jerky. Hang in there you can do this. Protein-water and fresh greens.

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
