Recommended Posts

I had my KAISER orientation tonight lots and lots of information that I knew a lot about but found out some stuff I didn't know. I now have a date to start my options class which is February 21 it is a 12 week class.. They weighed everyone tonight and they also told us that in The next 12 weeks we should lose 10% of our weight. So tomorrow morning I will start eating healthier and get that extra weight off I am very excited for this journey.

I will probably start walking about 30 minutes a day, and doing some light gym exercises

Hello I have kaiser insurance too, so I wanted to know who requests the psychological evaluation and endoscopy and labs that are in the requirements

Sorry for the late reply. I did 12 weeks of classes out of Fontana. Sleeved 10/24 1st class SW-245 surgery day-235 CW-185. -50lbs. You need to be ontop of them after you graduate. They tend to drop the ball alot. I was stalled by an extra month because of them. Just do all your labs as soon as your told. I'm sure they are going to say you have sleep apnea too lol. So you'll need to get your machine before surgery date. I haven't used mine since that day. Let me know if you have any other questions. I'll try harder at responding faster

Your instructor will let you know during class when you can start labs. The Psyc eval will be scheduled after you graduate from your classes along with seeing the doctor on more time before moving onto the surgeon

Thank you for the information yes it will be interesting to see if they say I have sleep apnea as far as I know I don't but we will see how do they do that test did they just send something home with you and you do it at home or do you have to go to a sleep lab

Also how fast after your last class did you get to meet with the surgeon and then get your date what was the timeframe

As far as the sleep machine goes... They will send it home with you and you bring it back a few days later. It records all your information and they just plug it into their computer and read it. If you don't like bulky stuff on your face ask for the pillow instead of the Mask before you take it home. The pillow is a small little thing that goes under your nose as opposed to the whole mask that goes over your face. Hopefully your insurance covers the machine because I'm pretty sure they're going to tell you you need it. I swear It's their way of making a little extra money.

I graduated 8/12/16. They took awhile to call me to schedule with the therapist and doctor (2 weeks past from graduation and I still haven't heard anything) I had to call and request a call back which happens pretty quick. Unfortunately they were booked so I had to wait two weeks for both appointments, each one was one day apart but they want you to have both before you can see the surgeon. The day before my doctor/ bariatric doctor appointment they called me and said he called off sick. So that put me back another 2 more weeks for the rescheduled appointment. Just don't miss the appointments and hopefully they're not fully booked like they were with me. After I walked out of the doctor's appointment they said I would hear from the surgeon's office within a week. From my experience and everyone else I know you get this call within a day or two most the time it's the same day you hear from them so when I waited three to four days and still didn't hear anything I had to call the Kaiser office back and sure enough they forgot to send my file over to the surgeon. She said she would do it right then and there ...no more than an hour later I got the call. That was on a Wednesday, the surgeon scheduled me that Friday Oct 21st. The surgeon gave me his first available appointment which was November 30th. I asked to be put on the cancellation list being that I'm a stay-at-home mom my schedule is completely open. He actually ended up having a cancellation that following Monday LOL. I had my surgery Monday October 24th. So it came up fairly fast on me. So be sure you ask to be put on the cancellation list!

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
