Anyone know when will it be ok to eat chicken and dumplings from cracker barrel?

When you can eat everything like at two months out. Yes. You. An eat anything as long as it doesn't make you sick. Just tiny portions.

I'm almost 11 weeks out and had CB for the first time last week. Though I didn't have chicken and dumplings I had the hash brown casserole and a couple bites of a biscuit with grape jelly and eggs. I listened to my stomach and stopped when I began to feel that full feeling and was just fine. I think once you get the clearance from your doctor for solids you are good to go just eat one thing at a time to gauge your tolerance.

I bought a sampler a month ago ... 2 1/2 months out. Had a couple bites of chic/dumplings, a bite of meatloaf and green Beans. Took the rest home and divided into not 3, not 4, but 5 additional meals and that was after giving the meatloaf to my kid.

You guys sound like fairly recent patients. Are you hitting your Protein goals every day? I don't know if you should even be eating the dumplings or biscuits so soon. They are for the most part nutritionally devoid of anything you need. I understand the desire to eat somewhat normally, but you have the rest of your life (i.e. maintence stage) to treat yourselves to those foods. Why do you want to introduce them into your diet so soon?

I'm not preaching nor judging, just bringing it up for discussion.

They are for the most part nutritionally devoid of anything you need. Yes I hit my goal daily plus I workout 5 days a week. So I felt that a couple bites of my husbands plate along with my order of eggs wouldn't kill me. I had a taste for them and do not wish to deprive myself as if I'm not human. I did not indulge and balanced it with my protein requirements the remainder of the day. Plus I'm trying to gauge what I can eat and can't.

I agree with @BigViffer, you have your whole life to introduce biscuits, dumplings and gravy back into your life. Use this "honeymoon" phase to eat clean, healthy, whole foods that are on your plan. No judgement here either, just a humble opinion by someone(me) who is a year out this month. You can do this, use this time to make positive life changing habits now.:)

I agree with @BigViffer, you have your whole life to introduce biscuits, dumplings and gravy back into your life. Use this "honeymoon" phase to eat clean, healthy, whole foods that are on your plan. No judgement here either, just a humble opinion by someone(me) who is a year out this month. You can do this, use this time to make positive life changing habits now.:)

Just because you say no judgement doesn't mean it's not implied. The above comments feel rather condemning. If I was the sensitive type of person it would deter me from posting and even leaving this otherwise great community. Lucky for me I've found value here. I'm going to continue being honest in my posts here because that's who I am. Do you know how many times since my surgery (12/1) and honestly 2 weeks before while during the liver reduction diet I desired all types of foods I couldn't have? However, not once have I cheated in following my guidelines. So again considering every day I take my Vitamins and 98% (room for error as we are human and not perfect) of the time I get in my Protein and liquids along with working out 5 days a week doesn't constitute me wrecking havoc on the "honeymoon"

Calm down, no one is judging and no one is insinuating your are wreaking havoc on the honeymoon. @Montana Gal only mentioned the often used phrase honeymoon phase in reference to the first year post op. She even gave encouragement by saying "you could do this". No one is questioning your humanity nor are they saying they are perfect.

Me in particular, I am not judging any one because it makes no difference to me. Whether anyone succeeds or fails post op affects me not at all. I brought up the point in case the OP did not realize that dumplings are not really the best choice for any bariatric patient. You amy read my past posts and see that I generally only try to be helpful and not start tiffs on the forum. If she or you choose to have dumplings or biscuits knowing full well they are poor nutritional choices merely because you are wanting to test the waters, I'll just store that away and remember it for the inevitable questions that come next and then ignore them.

I don't need an interpretation. I was clear on the words you and Montana Gal opted to use. I highlighted what stood out to me and didn't feel compelled to elaborate on every point. I merely wanted to show and share with you how that made me and/or others feel rather you intended it or not. I'm sure we are all well aware that carbs are not Protein hence why all or majority of us are here in the first place. So if we express that we wish to eat something and ask the specific question of when it seems judgmental to state things like why would you want to eat something void of nutrition. Obviously the person wants chicken and dumplings and asked a specific question. Some comments seem unnecessary and again appear to be judgmental whether you meant it or not. Just trying to shed some light. For the record your reply seemed a little lighter and sincere in your inquiry. I'm not here to argue but I don't want people to be made to feel bad about their decisions or worse they don't ask a question they need an answer to.

You read something into my comment that wasn't there. It is impossible to express emotion or intent via a keyboard. I was expressing my concern, that is all, nothing more. For over a year I have given nothing but encouragement and words of experience. I rarely post, but when I do it is from my heart. I encouraged the OP to take advantage if this first year, because let me tell you it gets harder with every passing month. We are all here to learn, express opinions and share our experiences. I am not perfect, I screw up and make poor choices and test the waters of my new stomach.

I merely read what you wrote. What makes you think she or we are not "eating clean"? Because she or we eat one morsel of a dumpling constitutes not eat cleaning? Yes I agree it can be challenging to convey emotions via keyboard but noticed the emoji and sincerely that was a nice touch as it helps to communicate emotions. I'm just merely going back to the mere fact that a specific question was asked regarding a time frame and nothing more. I would encourage you to go back and read what you wrote from the receiving end against the specific question that was asked. For what is it is worth I wasn't the only one who felt offended by the two "non judgmental" replies. I appreciate your reply and heard your heart.

      Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?

      Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
