5 days short of my 2 month anniversary date 4/18.

Walking for 1 hour 6 days a week. (Sunday I try to rest). Have started to introduce some jogging and running into the mix. I hit the gym 3 days week for an hour of weights and some cardio. Eating between 700- 900 cal per week. Drinking 80-100 oz's of Water, crystal lite, or green tea. I still hit a shake every now or then if the Protein is low for a day. Started to add more Fiber which helps with the bowels.

Down to 260, (259.5 last PM after 1/:15 in the gym) but I think I was dehydrated. Lost 6 lbs last week but only 4 in the prior 2 weeks. A mini plateau, and I was traveling and had to eat at a dining hall with limited choices.

I did the math with the calorie calculators. I set a rough goal of 3500 cal per week of exercise, and enough caloric deficit for 2-3 lbs of weight loss. Was 323 4/4/17 311 surgery day. So 60 lbs in 70 days. That's 210,000 calories burned away. About 1/2 of my clothing is now way too big and my wife is forcibly removing things from my closet.

Trying to be better with Vitamins, I get them in most days. I'm averaging 70g of protein per day, I think I have to raise that some. I think I'm fully tuned into to full, but I still eat too fast. No real issues with hunger yet.

Starting to think about where I want to end up. I was 212 as a HS freshman playing 3 sports and not at all puggy. Was 232 as a HS Senior and 240 playing college lacrosse. The 196 on the weight charts may be a stretch as I still have the legs of a guy used to carrying 300lbs + . The bulk of my extra weight was (and is) in my gut.

I have another sit down with the surgeon in mid July. Might be on my list of topics to discuss. Blood Sugars below 100, BP is 110/60 ish. lots of energy despite limited calories, although I'm asleep by 9:30 most nights.

Good Luck All!

Finally over the 3 week stall, lost 4lbs in 4 days!

Only 10lbs away from ONEderland! Way to excited [emoji24][emoji1373]

How's all my other 4/24 sleevers coming along?!

I had surgery on 4/24 as well! 14lbs from Onederland. My birthday is in late July and I can't think of a better present to myself than to see a 1 [emoji4]

I have only lost 23# so far in my first 10 weeks. I'm happy that my BMI has gone from 43 to 35, but I'm really hoping things pick up soon. I know a big problem has been that I'm having a hard time with my nutrition. I don't eat unhealthy things, but I haven't ever been good about weighing or tracking and I am really struggling with my sugar addiction. I thought I wouldn't be able to eat sugar and was hoping it would make me sick so I would have an easier time kicking it, but I can still eat it. I wish I didn't know that I can still tolerate sugar. I beat myself up every time I give in, which feels like a very familiar place of binging, guilt, self-loathing. Not looking for sympathy, just trying to be honest.

You are doing great but it is hard to lose slowly. Especially when you see so many posts of people losing astronomical amounts of weight in such short times.

I truly believe that when you can 'work it' it works but if you are emotional, angry, or unconscious about choices it does not work. I've had all of the above like everyone !! But I am convinced that if I eat Protein and low carb and avoid being sedentary the weight slowly drops off. Not after this past weekend... I ate WAY too many carbs and I was up 3 lbs!! YIKES I am freaking out. But you know what??? I'm also going through a divorce, a kid finished high school and lots of other change.

As long as you get back at it, it will happen.

It's there for you when you are able.

Good luck! Don't beat yourself up. It's a journey!

Thank you for the encouragement. It's really hard to be losing so slowly. I know as long as the scale is going down, something is working, maybe just not as hard as it could be if I was perfectly on plan. I eat fruit sometimes and I have beef sometimes. Sometimes I even eat chocolate! So I definitely have room for improvement on my diet.

i think we need those little treats! I am down in the dumps and was having some wine tonight. But FAR LESS than I would have had before the surgery. FAR LESS of everything! So it is better than it was but not as good as I thought it would be! Keep the 1 year surgeverasry or whatever it's called in mind. When you get there, then evaluate!!

You will do it!!

Keep in mind that you're only 186.6 pounds. It's funny, that is the goal weight my doctor wants me at. Sigh, it feels like I'm never going to get there. But, when you only have 20-30 pounds to lose, the weight will come off much slower than if you had a couple hundred pounds to lose, like myself. I'm sure you're doing great. Don't beat yourself up too badly.

I thought I was losing slowly last month, because I didn't see a change for a week, but then I saw seven the following week. But when I looked at my chart, I did lose 20 pounds my second month even though it felt like I only lost 10. It's all a mind game. Hang in there. If it were easy, then everyone would be doing it. This weight loss thing is for the brave of heart and the strong willed :780_sparkling_heart:

Iʻm roughly 6 weeks post-op this morning and have begun to feel like a normal human, with a normal human body again. I started introducing solid foods and pill forms of medications/supplements a couple of weeks ago and it's really amazing to eat meals with my family again, despite the fact that my portions are so much smaller than theirs.
I live on the island of Oʻahu and spend a lot of time in the water- for exercise, for play,  and for spiritual & mental health. The day I had my month out appointment with my surgeon, I packed all my gear in my truck, anticipating his permission to get back in the ocean. The minute I walked out of that hospital I drove straight to the shore and got in that water. Hallelujah! My appointment was at 10 am. I didn't get home until after 5 pm.
I'm down 31 pounds since the day of surgery and 47 since my pre-op diet began, with that typical week long stall occurring at three weeks. I'm really starting to see some changes lately- some of my clothing is too big, some fits again. The most drastic changes I notice however are in my face. I've also noticed my endurance and flexibility increasing. I was really starting to be held up physically, and I'm so grateful that I'm seeing that turn around in such short order.
My general disposition lately is hopeful and motivated. The only thing that bugs me on a daily basis still is the way those supplements make my house smell. So stink! But I just bought a smell proof bag online that other people use to put their pot in. My house doesn't stink anymore.

Oh yeah, something I wanted to rant about, a billing dispute that cropped up 3 months ago.
Surgery was in August of 2023. A bill shows up for over $7,000 in January. WTF? I asks myself. I know that I jumped through all of the insurance hoops and verified this and triple checked that, as did the surgeon's office. All was set, and I paid all of the known costs before surgery.
A looong story short, is that an assistant surgeon that was in the process of accepting money from my insurance company touched me while I was under anesthesia. That is what the bill was for. But hey, guess what? Some federal legislation was enacted last year to help patients out when they cannot consent to being touched by someone out of their insurance network. These types of bills fall under something called, "surprise billing," and you don't have to put up with it.
      https://www.cms.gov/nosurprises
I had to make a lot of phone calls to both the surgeon's office and the insurance company and explain my rights and what the maximum out of pocket costs were that I could be liable for. Also had to remind them that it isn't my place to be taking care of all of this and that I was going to escalate things if they could not play nice with one another.
Quick ending is that I don't have to pay that $7,000+. Advocate, advocate, advocate for yourself no matter how long it takes and learn more about this law if you are ever hit with a surprise bill.

Some days I feel like an infiltrator... I'm participating in society as a "thin" person. They have no idea that I haven't always been one of them! 🤣

Thank you everyone for your well wishes! I totally forgot I wrote an update here... I'm one week post op today. I gained 15 lbs in water weight overnight because they had to give me tons of fluids to bring my BP up after surgery! I stayed one night in the hospital. Everything has been fine except I seem to have picked up a bug while I was there and I've been running a low grade fever, coughing, and a sore throat. So I've been hydrating well and sleeping a ton. So far the Covid tests are negative.
I haven't been able to advance my diet past purees. Everything I eat other than tofu makes me choke and feels like trying to swallow rocks. They warned me it would get worse before it gets better, so lets hope this is all normal. I have my follow up on Monday so we'll see. Living on shakes and soup again is not fun. I had enough of them the first time!! LOL
