Finally over the 3 week stall, lost 4lbs in 4 days!

Only 10lbs away from ONEderland! Way to excited [emoji24][emoji1373]

How's all my other 4/24 sleevers coming along?!

Awesome job!!! I'm down 21 pounds from surgery day (at my 1 month post op appt. this week) and 18 pounds away from ONEderland! I've been in a but of a stall with the scale but feel like I'm shrinking daily regardless!

This is 3 days post-op and about 5 weeks later. Small changes, but this morning I was able to completely wrap a NORMAL sized bath towel around myself! No gaps either!

@Cass ElliotI just noticed you're in Canada.. did you have surgery here or in Mexico? And how long was your pre-op diet?

Hi! Sorry - haven't been on the forum for a while. Thanks for reaching out. I had my srugery in Mexico and did pre-op for about 10 days. Only a week was required but I felt like I wanted to be really ready! How about you?

I went through the arduous weight management program in Alberta in order to get it funded without any cost whatsoever. Doing it this way got not only continuous weight management support but post-op care for at least a year or two. I actually mentioned the other day to them about those from Alberta that go to Mexico and they said they wouldn't support them at the endocrinology/metabolism/wm/bariatric centre. I was lucky I had it done when I did, my RD went nuts on me right before surgery and I gave her a huge earful post-op, to which she raged out of the room. LOL. Oh well. It's done, and was free, alles ist gut.

I got my sleeve on April 27th and I know I'm a little late to the conversation. I haven't told many people, so it's really nice to find this community. It would be really nice to talk with people who are going through the same thing.

I was also sleeved on the 27th....hope you are doing well! None of this is easy, so this is a great place for support!

Ladddaay (read this with a terrible Jerry Lewis impression) How've you been?

Thanks, but I never really did pre-op dieting. I was/am in the research program so they just gave me their meal plan three nights before surgery, for two days, and then they put me on liquids 24 hours before my surgery. I mean, I think I lost six pounds..but nothing drastic like you and so many here.

And physically fit exes with a side of arrogant @sshole--yeah, I had one of those too. I used to have to be around him all the time, but thankfully I havent seen him in three years since my daughter graduated high school. I should've dropped him in College when he told me to join a gym because I was 140.

i hope you're doing well and kicking mucho @ss!!!!

Imagine being chastized for your weight at 140!! Ridiculous. I remember one of my old boyfriends saying he'd never seen me heavier when I was 136 (in high school)!. There were always the comments - oh she'd be perfect if she just lost that last 5 pounds... little did we or they know this would lead us to have to lose the last 50 or a hundred pounds!

How are you doing anyway? Hope it's going well. I'm in a slump - didnt weight myself all last week and thought I had lost but I'd gained! I am not eating enough veggies or Protein Shakes, etc. It feels like I'm never doing it uite right. I get that feeling from everybody! Just about. except the really arrogant ones.

I joined a great Facebook group that is constant moitvation. you should check it outl. let me know if you want the link

Thinking about you and all the APRIL SLEEVERS out there!!

Cheer up, buttercup. We've all been in a slump, or will be, at one time or another. It's exhausting having to be accountable for every single thing we put into our mouths and screw ups happen.

How much did you gain? Women can fluctuate five to seven pounds each month, depending on their hormones. If you feel up to it, send me a private message on what you've been eating, or if you log it into a Fitbit, take a screen pic and send it. It might be nothing, it might be something. I feel slumpy today. I ate a hotdog today. Even though it's a low carb food (2 carbs), it's a terrible choice loaded with sodium and questionable ingredients.

Oh, you know what I have been hooked on? Dunkin Donuts medium iced Decaf coffee with 4 creams, 2 splendas, and a shot of unsweetened vanilla. It makes me sad that I do two coffees a day for the last couple of weeks. It adds 6-8 carbs a day that I could not be consuming if my coffee ways didn't suck me back in 😔.

Ooh that's awesome! I wonder when they'll test mine again. I was right at 6 so no meds but I was headed that way. Congrats!!
I'm hoping this new generation of women raising girls will teach their daughters to raise up and empower each other. I see it with my nieces raising their daughters.

Thank you. Everyone has been congratulating me.. I see a myriad of doctors/specialists regularly. It's hard to feel like I accomplished something given I've been fighting off the health effects of being a dumbass for years, and only now am I on the verge of finally being perfectly healthy. But being realistic, I think I'll be happy when I'm off my last medication.. metoprolol, beta blocker for heart rate and BP. Post-op it's been 100-120/60-90, but I think my doctors/specialists want to see it on the lower end of that permanently before taking me off this. RHR has regularly been 50-80.. so I don't think that's much an issue anymore.

As far as my daughter goes, and our future kids, definitely being aware of what they eat, and minimizing the junk carbs from the diet. My wife has PCOS and has been losing weight seeing me lose a bunch of it, and from all those months of me begging her to stop eating so many carbs so she doesn't go through what I did with my enormous weight gain in such a short timespan. Women seem to have a tougher time losing it.

Iʻm roughly 6 weeks post-op this morning and have begun to feel like a normal human, with a normal human body again. I started introducing solid foods and pill forms of medications/supplements a couple of weeks ago and it's really amazing to eat meals with my family again, despite the fact that my portions are so much smaller than theirs.
I live on the island of Oʻahu and spend a lot of time in the water- for exercise, for play,  and for spiritual & mental health. The day I had my month out appointment with my surgeon, I packed all my gear in my truck, anticipating his permission to get back in the ocean. The minute I walked out of that hospital I drove straight to the shore and got in that water. Hallelujah! My appointment was at 10 am. I didn't get home until after 5 pm.
I'm down 31 pounds since the day of surgery and 47 since my pre-op diet began, with that typical week long stall occurring at three weeks. I'm really starting to see some changes lately- some of my clothing is too big, some fits again. The most drastic changes I notice however are in my face. I've also noticed my endurance and flexibility increasing. I was really starting to be held up physically, and I'm so grateful that I'm seeing that turn around in such short order.
My general disposition lately is hopeful and motivated. The only thing that bugs me on a daily basis still is the way those supplements make my house smell. So stink! But I just bought a smell proof bag online that other people use to put their pot in. My house doesn't stink anymore.

Oh yeah, something I wanted to rant about, a billing dispute that cropped up 3 months ago.
Surgery was in August of 2023. A bill shows up for over $7,000 in January. WTF? I asks myself. I know that I jumped through all of the insurance hoops and verified this and triple checked that, as did the surgeon's office. All was set, and I paid all of the known costs before surgery.
A looong story short, is that an assistant surgeon that was in the process of accepting money from my insurance company touched me while I was under anesthesia. That is what the bill was for. But hey, guess what? Some federal legislation was enacted last year to help patients out when they cannot consent to being touched by someone out of their insurance network. These types of bills fall under something called, "surprise billing," and you don't have to put up with it.
      https://www.cms.gov/nosurprises
I had to make a lot of phone calls to both the surgeon's office and the insurance company and explain my rights and what the maximum out of pocket costs were that I could be liable for. Also had to remind them that it isn't my place to be taking care of all of this and that I was going to escalate things if they could not play nice with one another.
Quick ending is that I don't have to pay that $7,000+. Advocate, advocate, advocate for yourself no matter how long it takes and learn more about this law if you are ever hit with a surprise bill.

Some days I feel like an infiltrator... I'm participating in society as a "thin" person. They have no idea that I haven't always been one of them! 🤣

Thank you everyone for your well wishes! I totally forgot I wrote an update here... I'm one week post op today. I gained 15 lbs in water weight overnight because they had to give me tons of fluids to bring my BP up after surgery! I stayed one night in the hospital. Everything has been fine except I seem to have picked up a bug while I was there and I've been running a low grade fever, coughing, and a sore throat. So I've been hydrating well and sleeping a ton. So far the Covid tests are negative.
I haven't been able to advance my diet past purees. Everything I eat other than tofu makes me choke and feels like trying to swallow rocks. They warned me it would get worse before it gets better, so lets hope this is all normal. I have my follow up on Monday so we'll see. Living on shakes and soup again is not fun. I had enough of them the first time!! LOL
