What would you do differently?

Stock up on sugar free popsicles! I had my surgery RnY on 2/8 and I'm addicted. I'm struggling to get me Protein in but I manage a Premier Protein shake so far. I take miralax with it because the Constipation is intense. And the incision pain is rough. But I am walking and trying to do what the doctor says. It's just an adjustment.

I am in the RNY preop phase but I'm trying to find good tips on this site. Has anyone tried the Optimum Nutrition Protein Water? It has 20g of protein for 16oz. My friend is a nurse who is on a diet program and likes this water.

Hey all,

I'm preparing myself for surgery and was just wanting know that if you could do one thing differently in pre or post op what would it be? Or maybe one thing you're really glad you did?

have a tummy pillow. Make sure there is a recliner in your home you can sleep in for after the hospital and if not getting a body pillow.

See if she'll give you a bottle to try. I bought some and never drank them. Most of them are like 15 G protein in 20 oz. to drink 20 oz post op to get 15 g of protein was too much for me. I preferred to put 30 gram GENEPRO powder in 8-10 oz of milk abs be done with it. Just me though. :)

What would I have done differently ? Had surgery sooner, don't tell anyone except for like bff or close family...even then it can come back on you! I would have dry skin brushed more and used Vitamin e and coconut oil right away. Also I would have not introduced sugar back in my diet. Good luck with surgery!! All the best

I would have sent emails a month before to various Protein Powder suppliers to get samples-i bought Premier Protein powder vanilla and chocolate and they made me gag. Also, I wouldn't have brought as much to the hospital--really all I needed for my hospital stay was slippers-pillow-bipap-chap stick-undies-socks-toothbrush-hand cream. All I wanted to do was sleep in my comfy bed. I wouldnt have watched to many "bad experience surgery" vids on you tube--they just made me more nervous.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
