How many lbs did you lose your first month?

Recommended Posts

It has been 3 weeks today and I have lost 23.5, but nothing for the last 8-9 days...guess I am headed towards the dreaded 3 week stall...but, it'll get moving again.

I'm 33 years old, 5' tall, and weighing in at 220.

We submitted to insurance just waiting on my dates.

I'm 35, 5'2 and 220lb. I had my consult on tue. My doc makes you go through all the NUT counciling, psych eval and everything your insurance requires before you get the consult. I am hoping they have already submitted my stuff to the ins. They told me to plan on anywhere from 3 to 5 weeks. I'm so anxious! What surgery are you having? I'm having the RNY.

I am having the sleeve.

They told me we would know in 7 days if they approved me. The only worry they have is none of the other surgeons I went to said anything about the 6 months of dieting. I mean there are tons of notes in the doc visits reg dieting as well as from my primary 3 months prior. But not a set plan.

Hopefully this doesn't make them reject my claim. I'm anxious too!

I was considering only taking 1-2 weeks off of work, but if I get approved for disability. I think I might just do the 4-6 weeks. It'll be nice to have that time to recover and get re-antiquated with eating. Plus, more of a wow factor from the people at work I won't see for that long.

Hmmm... but I heard it's good to not lose too fast, less loose skin no?

I want to try to lose 20-40 lbs the first mo.. that would put me at my avg weight for most of my adult life. I was in the 180s till I had more babies.

For encouragement purposes to those like myself, Let's all remember that different people will lose at different rates due to their starting weight..... I'm simply putting that out there for newbies who are on this forum like myself and get somewhat discouraged because I only lost 24 lbs in one month and someone else may have lost 45 lbs in a month. But, my BMi on my day of surgery was 34 with a weight of 219 lbs and that other persons BMI may have been 48 with a weight of 315 or whatever ( made up numbers people just using this as an example). So, naturally they have more body fat to lose and it's gonna come off quicker. So, moral to this story don't be discouraged if you are not comparable to some of these amazing weight losses, look at their stats. I would come on here daily my first week post op n be like dang, how did she lose 18 lbs in one week. I only lost 9 lbs. But if I were never sleeved, I would never have lost 9 lbs in a week. Be proud of your results . That is what I had to learn to do. Post pics of your journey so that you can see your progress on a pic... it makes a big difference. As long as you are losing pounds and/ or inches , you are rocking it.

Amen... I agree. This is a very hard process and I respect all of those that describe the struggle for newbies like myself. It helps me to get through a rough spot when I know someone else here has gone through something similar.

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
