Care after surgery

Recommended Posts

I have heard that for about 6 weeks after surgery you can not lift anything over 15 lbs. I have a 1 year old and we live in a different state than my family. My husband will be able to take off about a week of work and then I will have my mom for a week and then stepmom the week after that. So I will have 3 weeks of someone being able to lift our son when needed. I'm worried I won't be able to get help for the last 3 weeks of recovery. Anyone else have to go through this?

I have an 18 month old who is around 21 or 22lbs and only had help the first week. I have been lifting her since then when absolutely necessary ie. getting into the car or in/out of crib.

Same here. My daughter is 1 year and about 21 lbs. Dr said not to lift her until he sees me for my post op which is next week....so for 2 weeks at least. It's so hard! Especially because she woke up today not feeling good.

My doc told me at my 2 week check up I can lift up to 20 pounds now. I have no trouble doing that...have a dog that needs lifting up and down steps around 20 lbs.

Thank you everyone for the advice. I'm hoping that if I have 3 weeks of help and then after that I do the minimum lifting I'll be okay. My son is 20 lbs as of now. I'll talk it over with my doctor too

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
