I thought I had a stricture due to the same things you are feeling. Mine turned out to be stomach spasm upon swallowing food. The nurse gave me anti-spasm meds, which cleared it up.

Wow, I never thought about that! I hope this is the issue! How do you feel now that you're on anti-spasm meds?

I feel great now. I haven't had pain since I started taking (unless I eat too much). It's called Levsin and you take it 15 minutes prior to eating, up to three times a day. So I take it before Breakfast, lunch and dinner.

It's worth asking your surgeon's team about. Hopefully that's all it is! Good luck!

I wanted to ask you? Did you actually feel your stomach spasm? Or was its constant pressure in your stomach/chest/throat? Somedays I feel like my stomach is swollen inside to the point that my incision area hurts. When I think of spasms, i think of a contracting pain. I don't have this. I have a constant pressure and the inability to initiate a swallow sometimes. Also when I do swallow one bite after not eating for a whole day, I feel extremely full.

It took me a while to be able to drink Water other than small sips. I am 4 years out and I still can only eat a very small amount. 2 chicken wings tops. I do much better with liquid. Make sure to get your Vitamins. I just got bariatric vitamin patches. Today is the first day I have tried it. Good luck and try not to stress. I know it's hard because I still have anxiety around food.< /p>

@AmandaGillis. I have a stricture. I had bypass 9/14/16. Same symptons as you. First time ended up in hospital dehydrated for 5 days in oct. This mon ended up another two days. Both times could not swallow Water more than a couple sips. Had two endoscopic dialations. Third one scheduled for week after next Hopefully that will cure it. It felt great to eat food again. Don't wait for appt. go to ER. Otherwise an easy fix turns into a major problem. Good luck

The stricture or stenosis is where the stomach attaches to the intentions. I was told it was more common after band to bypass revisions. The dr office also told me it was normal and to keep drinking liquids. I did this until I almost fainted. If in doubt do not wait. My stricture was almost closed and did not show up on cat scan good luck

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
