Almost 3 weeks out and only lost 9 lbs

Recommended Posts

I will be 3 weeks out and only lost 9 lbs. this doesn't seem right and I am doing exactly what I have been taught. I'm 47 and surgical weight was 229. I quit smoking a couple months ago so I am also wondering if this is one of the reasons I'm so slow to lose. I feel clothes getting looser and family and friends have said I look like I'm losing. Trying to be patient but it's starting to bug me.

Everyone looses different. I will take inches lost and loose clothing..you're still on the losing side. Make sure you're getting enough Protein and getting your fluids in. Your body needs nutrients so you can lose weight. I'll be a month post op tuesday. Good luck to you on this journey!!

Do a search on stall, not losing, only lost, etc. There are tons of posts on this. Basically, a stall is normal. Your body is healing and adjusting. Keep on your plan and the weight will come off. 9 lbs is a great loss so far. You just had major surgery. Weight won't come off consistently but you will likely lose inches when the scale doesn't go down.

How much of your weight loss has been since your surgery? How much did you lose before the surgery?

Everyone is so different from what I've seen. My surgery weight was 226 and now I'm 208.8 in 3 1/2 weeks. Make Protein and fluids your priority and do a lot of walking if you aren't already (as long as you're comfortable)

Yes getting 80 oz of Water and atleast 79 grams of Protein and walking 45 minutes 3 times a week which intend to increase as I feel comfortable.

Then it's most likely your body healing. I've read about how some people lose really slow at first and then they'll have rapid weightloss instead of rapid first and then slow down. It sounds like you're doing everything you should be so just be patient:)

I'm three weeks out too and experiencing the same thing. I've lost a total of 10 lbs since surgery and nothing in the last week and a half. I'm supposed to be on puréed food, but went back to clear liquid diet because I'm not losing. I'm also using my elliptical 40mins per day. I'm tracking everything in my fitness pal - I've been consuming 75g Protein and well over 80 oz Water. No more than 200 calories in a day - and still not losing. I'm starting to get depressed.

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
