Isopure ready to drink?

Recommended Posts

I personally can't stand Isopure rtd's. I bought one of every flavor from luckyvitamin.com. I had high hopes but I can't stand the aftertaste.

But there are some people I've talked to who like the stuff. If you decide to try it, don't buy a case. Just buy one of each flavor and go from there.

I tried three different flavors during my "clear liquids" phase and I didn't like a single one of them. They have a very medicinal taste, to me. Definitely try them before you buy bulk.

I don't like them, and had high hopes for them. I bought 4 flavors to try. The red one was ok but medicine aftertaste. The green apple was awful. The other two flavors are sitting in the back of my fridge untouched, lol!

Here's the good news: after experiencing Isopure drinks, my premier Protein chocolate shakes suddenly taste better .

I tried the coconut one. there is an aftertaste that I probably could have soldiered through in order to get 40g of Protein....but there is a ton of sweetener to compensate giving it a nauseatingly over sweet taste.

Similar to Kel, those Protein shakes suddenly didn't look so bad anymore.

I had a hard time getting those down. I only bought 3 bottles and only drank half a bottle a day as I was transitioning to full liquids when I came home from the hospital. Definitely an odd taste and viscosity - even though technically a 'clear' liquid.< /p>

I tried one (the purple one?) at the suggestion of a friend. I had one sip. I imagine it's what death tastes like. BLECH!

If you can tolerated go for it! It is whey Protein based and considered the gold standard for most physicians. I tried the alpine punch ad the after taste is not so good but tolerable. I found the green tea (lemon flavor) flavor and liked it. I add a little Water to mine...in my mind it helps lol.

I was on Clear Liquids for a week post-op and I lived on the Isopure RTD lemonade flavor. It was less sweet than the blue and red flavors, I added a bit of lemon powder to cut the sweetness even more and blended it with ice, making a sort of slushie. That took care of the weird viscosity. My stomach then and still likes cold drinks, luckily. I didn't mind the Isopure then, not sure I could put it in my mouth now :)

I bake a lot, so I had lemon juice powder from King Arthur Flour in my pantry. True Lemon is a common brand that's easy to find. It really made a big difference, combined with the ice especially.

Has anyone ever tried the Isopure ready to drink stuff? It has 40g of Protein in it, and I really have a hard time with Protein shakes. It's more like a Water drink, and less like a shake. If you've tried it let me know what you thought before I buy it.

Thanks!

It's great taste takes time to get use too. I freeze mine and shake them it is like a slushy.

Thank you everyone for your well wishes! I totally forgot I wrote an update here... I'm one week post op today. I gained 15 lbs in water weight overnight because they had to give me tons of fluids to bring my BP up after surgery! I stayed one night in the hospital. Everything has been fine except I seem to have picked up a bug while I was there and I've been running a low grade fever, coughing, and a sore throat. So I've been hydrating well and sleeping a ton. So far the Covid tests are negative.
I haven't been able to advance my diet past purees. Everything I eat other than tofu makes me choke and feels like trying to swallow rocks. They warned me it would get worse before it gets better, so lets hope this is all normal. I have my follow up on Monday so we'll see. Living on shakes and soup again is not fun. I had enough of them the first time!! LOL

Still purging all of the larger clothing. This morning, a shirt that I ADORED wearing ended up on top. Hard to let it go, but it was also hard to let go of those habits that also no longer serve my highest good. Onward and upward!

Well, tomorrow I go in for an impromptu hiatal hernia repair after ending up in the ER over the weekend because I couldn't get food down and water was moving at a trickle... I've been having these symptoms on and off for a few weeks but Sunday was the worst by far and came with chest pain and trouble breathing. The ER PA thinks it is just esophagitis and that the surgeon and radiologist are wrong. But the bariatric surgeon swears it is a hernia, possibly a sliding one based on my symptoms. So he fit me into his schedule this week to repair it! I hope he's right and this sorts it out. He's going to do a scope afterwards to be sure there is nothing wrong with the esophagus. Here's hoping it all goes well!!
