Did anyone cheat on preop

Recommended Posts

Most ppl post things on here because they want to talk about it funky munky and idk what ur talking about ripping my stomach open I just got my surgery Today btw no issues. Furthermore to each individual who had something negative to post I will not entertain u we are not clones and I do believe we are all made differently. And we all post on here to make ourselves or other feel better and possibly relate. TBH I didn't recall asking how you felt if y'all were so perfect at following the plan from the beginning wouldn't any one of us be on here. With that being said Thank you all for your posts and my doc did tell me liver was nice and small and had a successful sleeve Thank you

HalFAB-ulous I'm not as concerned because I was told that hunger pain would be gone. I have changed my diet I don't just put unnecessary calories, carbs, and sugars in my body anymore. So this sleeve will help be a tool for me to help with moderation. Thank you for asking instead of just judging and assuming

Ella I think you did a great job even though u went off plan you choice a healthy option. My surgeon didn't even really ask if I stuck to plan he was just happy for me. His main concern was that I didn't eat or drink this morning. How is everything going for you now?

It seems as if it can't be admitted in these groups and forums we are all human and make mistakes. If anyone isn't afraid that has messed up pls post how many days before and with what. No judgement here pls! We all know what we should be doing tx

We are all human and we sometimes slip and make mistakes and have momentary lack of judgement. It seems that the pre-op liquid diet serves 2 major purposes: to shrink the liver and get your brain prepared to make safe, healthy choices for your body post-op. If you have a fatty liver like I do, it would probably be in your best interest to shrink it as much as possible before surgery. I have not yet started the pre-op liquid diet, but I'm working on dropping some weight now and modifying some bad habits. I think people get really crazy when you're post-op (and rightfully so) because "cheating" can seriously hurt yourself. Pre-op is quite a bit different. Life happens. My surgery is scheduled for December 23...I expect to have a challenging liquid pre-op, especially because of the timing near the holidays, but I need a good week or so to recover, so I'll just have to do my best. Hang in there.

I know everyone is human and everyone makes mistakes but I want to share something my surgeon has told me that when I start my pre next week it's gunna help me make the right choices. Last year they had someone that cheated on they're diet and never told them to make a long story short they almost lost her. She was in the icu for three months. U have to think u r not just risking ur life. But everyone in that surgical room is put at risk also. Just imagine they're discussions when something goes wrong in there. can we save her. We have to save her. How will they live everyday seeing that girl in they're head if they hadn't saved her. Bc of her own mistake they were all put at stake. The nurses the surgical team EVERYONE. Not hounding on anyone but before you make your decisions maybe think of that scenario and that it's not just ur life that can be affected by ur choice. Gl to all and hope that helps bc it definitely is gunna help me!!

No judgement here! I really don't give two shakes of a lamb's bottom if someone chooses to follow their surgeon's plan pre or post op. I **DO** however care that good, healthy information is given so that others reading can make an educated decision for their own sake and safety. :)

The phrase "we are all human" seems to be justification for bad choices and poor behavior and that is sort of ... uhm ... amusing? Puzzling? I mean, the guy who drives drunk is human as are those who text and drive. People who leave their pets or children in the car on a 100 degree day are human. The girl who was eating Swedish fish five days post op was human.

The cool thing about being human? We were given actual intelligence to make rational decisions instead of just following instinct. Again, no judgement. Your choices are your own. Don't get your feelings hurt when others come back with differing opinions, though, because they chose to follow directions to a tee.

Thanks! I think everyone's surgeon is different. Some people don't even have a pre op diet. My BMI was lower (38 or so) and maybe that's why he was more relaxed about it.

I'm 3 weeks out today and doing fine!

Seems to me like you want others to talk about it so you feel better about what you did.. But me having something off plan PRE op is a whole lot different than you trying to rip your stomach open by eating chicken breast n salad when it hasn't healed yet and you're still on liquids.. Thats your choice it would scare me

Munky

Sooooo..... Did anyone ever have the, "what happens when you ASSUME things" talk with you???.. might just want to review it before you make public posts. Just a thought.

Well crap, I didn't even get to cheat...lol when I realized our insurance wouldn't pay and we had to pay out of pocket for mine, I saw the dr on a Monday and two weeks after on that Tuesday I was getting surgery, so on that Monday visit, he put me in the all liquid diet...lol

I was supposed to do 7 days of full liquids before my surgery... Ummmmm, I only did 3 1/2 days Lolololol.. But my surgery went well thank goodness. It probably helped that I lost about 15-20 pounds before surgery too...

Because I wished someone good luck? That makes no sense.

Thank you everyone for your well wishes! I totally forgot I wrote an update here... I'm one week post op today. I gained 15 lbs in water weight overnight because they had to give me tons of fluids to bring my BP up after surgery! I stayed one night in the hospital. Everything has been fine except I seem to have picked up a bug while I was there and I've been running a low grade fever, coughing, and a sore throat. So I've been hydrating well and sleeping a ton. So far the Covid tests are negative.
I haven't been able to advance my diet past purees. Everything I eat other than tofu makes me choke and feels like trying to swallow rocks. They warned me it would get worse before it gets better, so lets hope this is all normal. I have my follow up on Monday so we'll see. Living on shakes and soup again is not fun. I had enough of them the first time!! LOL

Still purging all of the larger clothing. This morning, a shirt that I ADORED wearing ended up on top. Hard to let it go, but it was also hard to let go of those habits that also no longer serve my highest good. Onward and upward!

Well, tomorrow I go in for an impromptu hiatal hernia repair after ending up in the ER over the weekend because I couldn't get food down and water was moving at a trickle... I've been having these symptoms on and off for a few weeks but Sunday was the worst by far and came with chest pain and trouble breathing. The ER PA thinks it is just esophagitis and that the surgeon and radiologist are wrong. But the bariatric surgeon swears it is a hernia, possibly a sliding one based on my symptoms. So he fit me into his schedule this week to repair it! I hope he's right and this sorts it out. He's going to do a scope afterwards to be sure there is nothing wrong with the esophagus. Here's hoping it all goes well!!
