I had my surgery 10/19 and im 44. I was prescribed the same shots 2 times a day for 30 days. MY choice was to discontinue the shots and I increased my intake of raw and powdered Tumeric. Tumeric does many things among which is natural blood thinner. I use that and move around allot for circulation. This works for mr.

Yes... I was prescribed 10 daily shots to self administer of Lovenox to prevent blood clots. Its precautionary during the period of time when you won't be quite as mobile as usual.

I am another who had to give myself Lovenox shots for 2 weeks post op. I was nervous about it, but it ended up being really easy to learn/administer. It's a part of my programs post op plan regardless of age or BMI, the folks in my class had varying ages/bmis and we were all going to be on them post op.

They gave me Lovonox (sp) shots on admittance and then then the morning after. Nothing after that. It's probably indicated when you meet certain age/bmi criteria.

I was sleeved almost three years ago. My friend is scheduled for surgery on Tuesday. I am posting this question for her. The doctor gave her a prescription for a shot that she is supposed to give herself twice a day for fourteen days after surgery. The purpose of the shot is to act as a blood thinner and help prevent blood clots. She is using the same office that I used and that three of my other friends have used for the sleeve surgery. None of us were required to do the shot. The nurse advised my friend that it was because she is 40 years old. Two of the others that I know that had the sleeve were over 40 and did not require the shot. My friend just wanted me to ask if anyone else was required to do the shot and if they had any issues giving it to themselves? Thanks for any info!

She must have something in her bloodwork that the dr is seeing that puts her in risk for bloodclots. I was giving the injections in the hospital but never afterwards. I would definitely ask

I had to give myself steriod injsections when i couldnt walk. Massive amounts of steriod treaments is what they gave me to get me back walking. I woke up 1 morning and drove to the store, got home, sat down and i went to get back up and couldnt feel from the waist down. But yes, im 51 and they mustve seen something to say hey, youre a candidate for bloodclots.

I am hoping to have my sleeve surgery in December. I have to give my self shots for 30 days pre op. I have a blood clotting disorder and I don't have a choice. After the 30 days I will go back to my oral blood thinner Xarelto.

Yes... I forgot to mention 2 years ago I had multiple clots on each lung. It was a horrible experience which really makes me scared to have the surgery. I trust my surgeon and I'm moving forward.

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
