Is it due to the dehydration and diet changes?

I have heard it is a combination of lots of things, anesthesia doesn't help, a high Protein diet, etc.

I was very lucky in that I could drink a lot of Water from a few days after the surgery. However I was still consipated and tried lactulose, MofM and others, the only thing that worked for me was Dulcolax. Brilliant.

Im due to have skin surgery soon and have a few packs of Dulcolax in the house just to be on the safe side lol.

Hope it passes soon (no pun intended :P)

The title of this post could honestly be the title of my biography. Even still at 2 years out, it doesn't seem to get any better :(

I never had an issue after mine thankfully! But my doctor had prescribed me some dulcolax suppositories in the hospital just in case.

I'm 3 1/2 months and am struggling with this too . My surgeon said no laxatives because your body can become dependent. I'm adding more Water and Fiber .... hope this helps

@@blu2020,

I know this doesn’t help relieve discomfort, but at least know that it’s a pretty common problem for sleeve patients who are two weeks out like you are. I’m sorry; it’s a hard thing to deal with.

I would definitely suggest asking your doctor or surgeon to recommend a laxative. They can tell you what the safest and most effective one is.

The other thing you can do is to use some of the standard weapons against Constipation. You can drink a ton of Water – you didn’t mention how much you are drinking, but a lot of sleeve patients aren’t even hitting the minimum recommend amount of 64 ounces a day, and for fighting constipation, you’d do better with way more than that.

The other tool is exercise, if you are not already. Walking can even help.

Finally, know that a good portion of your constipation is likely due to not eating. There is not any solid food in your system, so your system is not moving. Once you get to mushies and solid foods, you will probably feel much better.

Good luck!

I had the worst Constipation. I started eating Greek yogurt daily and I started going regularly. Then I started my Iron pill and it wasn't so easy again. Now I eat a Greek yogurt and take 2 stool softener a day. It seems to do the trick.

I drink about 80 ounces a day, always drinking Water, and I am eating. I thought it was because of the food that was doing this. I take so much Calcium and just started taking thyroid medicine- I am sure my body wants to bitch slap me and hug me at the same time- I personally would like it to figure it out because I have now bought the left wing of the dog store for pooping problems. The cashier might even be embarrassed for me.

I haven't had any issues at all besides this. You would think the doc didn't even do anything to me, it's bazaar. Thanks for the hell though!

I heard activitia two times a day will clear you out. But I have to say, MoM, Smooth Move tea, stool soften, and benifiber in my Water, warn prune juice - i will survive this (I think)

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
