Help... I really need to poop

Recommended Posts

After going to urgent care this evening to help remove an impact (there was no bowel prep prior to my surgery 2/12 weeks ago), I'm now waiting in the ER since the urgent care didn't have a "vacuum." No more pride...this is crap. Literally!!!

I am so sorry! Seriously I am sorry! But you are getting it over with, it will be behind you (sorry) in no time. Think of the ER doc that does this daily.

For whatever reason avocado has always been a natural laxative that is extremely fast working for me. I can certainly report that post op that is still the case! Is there any food that you had pre-op that can help you push it out?

You can grind your shrimp up in a blender with some cocktail sauce? We all need a prescription. Can be taken everyday. It is taking every day by those with IBS AND CHRONIC Constipation

LINZESS... Is med

I paid attention to what my husband was taking when he did his colonoscopy prep; I figured if it was good enough for that, it'd help me with my post-surgery issues! However, I haven't had an issue yet. I was 2 weeks full liquid high Protein diet, and am following the same diet post-op. I am 3 days post-op and had a small bowel movement this morning without any outside help, but I'm not sure how it's going to go over the next 2 weeks. I have my dulcolax pills ready- left over from my husband's "experience"!

Try Actilax or Lactulose Syrup. It is a sticky liquid laxative and helped me greatly after spinal fusion surgery. I swear by it. In my work as a nurse, we also do a Coloxyl milk shake which consists of crushing 2xColoxyl with senna tablets, add 30ml Lactulose syrup and 20ml of Agarol syrup. Add 50ml of milk and mix together. Works a treat!!

I was feeling "plugged" two weeks post op today. Yesterday I took three generic bus idyl tabs. Six hours later, small firm bm. Have had several small mushy, loose stools since.

Really don't like autocorrect sometimes. The med is biscodyl. Teeny, tiny tablets.

The first month was the worst for me with Constipation. It can be miserable. I started taking a stool softener daily and now I'm so regular it's unreal.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Your so close now! It's gonna be great :) Wishing you a speedy recovery and looking forward to seeing how it goes!

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
