Hi. I really need help.

I had my sleeve on Aug 10 2016 and i have lost 17.6 kgs. Its great ive lost that amount i know, but i am soooo miserable! I cant tolarate anything. I havent eaten any form of food for the last 4 days. I can only drink Water and just recently tea!

My stomach hurts and i am just so worried. Today i have broken down and cried during work.

I cant handle it.

I really feel that this is the worst mistake ever and ill never be normal again. !

You should call your surgeon or at least talk to your dietitian. Every day that you don't eat, you will be getting weaker. Since you can tolerate Water, try to drink some Protein enhanced Water if you can. If you are having stomach pain and are worried, be sure to talk to your surgeon.

Surgeon keeps saying that its normal and will pass as time moves on. He is really not helpful at all.. im so lost

I had my surgery in March and I was miserable the first 2-3 months, as I missed food so much and became intolerant to a few things post surgery & also my taste buds changed. food has been a big part of my life, including cooking, so to not enjoy it was killing me. But now, I'm so happy and enjoying learning to cook new things, make new things etc, so all I can say is I've been there and it will pass! I went to a food psychologist which helped too

I also had my surgery in August and haven't had the experience that you have had with not being able to eat for a prolonged period but recently I did have a day that started with me vomiting all morning and resulted in my developing an aversion to Protein shakes, Protein powder, and a certain type of multi-Vitamin. I wound up buying a variety of different high Protein Greek yogurts and some protein water and just made myself eat what I could. I have found that if I don't eat enough protein, I get weak quickly. At one point, the Greek yogurt seemed too much, so I got some drinkable yogurt.

If you are having difficulty eating due to pain caused by eating, your surgeon should address that because you could have a stricture. I sometimes have pain when I eat but it is usually when I have tried something new that takes up more space in my stomach than I thought it would. Have you had success with any foods since surgery?

Have you tried warm broth with unflavored Protein powder?

Your sleeved stomach is almost like a muscle, the less you use it, the less you will be able to use it. So not eating increases the restriction and makes it harder to eat.

Are you drinking constantly? I mean sips all day, basically every waking moment? That will help ease up your stomach. They eat those small amounts that you can, several times a day.

You really should see a medical professional, if your Dr isn't helpful, find another one. The person that does your surgery doesn't have to be the one that does your follow up care. You could have a stricture and it needs to be addressed. Go to the ER.

I have been having very similar issues. I am 3 weeks out and can't hardly eat anything if it isn't a popsicle or Jello. I have been feeling like crap.. I thro up any food I eat even after chewing 30 times and waiting in between bites. I am down 21lbs in 3 weeks which is great but with the eating issues and the pains I have in my abdomen I also sometimes think it was a mistake. I hope that I can get passed this part because I am seriously miserable

I'm nearly 2 weeks out and have similar feelings. I keep telling myself that this is only temporary (even if it does last longer than the 4 weeks I originally anticipated.)

I also keep reminding myself of all the times I felt so miserable and out of control before I had the sleeve and how making both a physical and mental change will take me away from that out of control feeling.

Trust me, I get it. I've cried. I've mourned. I've hoped to be able to return to some normalcy someday.

Just know you're not alone.

Another thing maybe worth a try, is the fodmap diet. Perhaps you are intolerant to certain foods post surgery. I was getting very nauseous and pain after only a few bites. Turns out it's garlic & onion & since cutting them out I've improved significantly. The fodmap diet is an elimination diet, to work out what foods are causing you issues

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
