Haven't lost any weight in a week

So I shouldn't be devastated that I've lost nothing I'm 8 days out and thought I've spent all this money and nothing is happening

Your weight right now is not accurate. You are swollen and were pumped with tons of fluids. Stick with your plan - you didn't do this for nothing! Hang in there!

I've tried No to weigh often. I am stalled but I read in advance to expect it and by the posts seems normal

I have stalls once a month or month and half and it's been that way since April 19th when I had the surgery. The longest stall lasted 2 weeks. I've lost 55lbs since then though. For what Ive learned and read stalls are a normal part of our journey so I've learned to embrace them and if and when I do worry, I change something up and usually that brings the weight loss right back and puts me back on track.

My surgery was July 18 th and for the first month I felt like I was barely losing. 3 months later today I'm down almost 60 or more. It catches up I promise. The key too that my Dr told me is to only weigh myself once a month. Its hard but it makes sense to not stress over the number, especially in the beginning. Good luck!

This happens to everyone...mine was about 2 weeks out of surgery and the scale hadn't moved for a week or so...I called my treatment centre and talked to the rn there and she said if she had a quarter for every time she got this same call she would be a millionaire! Lol. Your body is just in distress and wants to hold onto that weight with all its might cuz you are shocking your body with the very small amounts of food and fluids! But don't worry cuz it will come off fast as soon as your body finally let's go! At least I did....I lost 140lbs in 8 month!! :) still blows my mind to this day and I'm coming up on my 6 year anniversary next month. :) you'll do great don't worry :)

I'm stuck at the same weight. It's always only a 5 lb difference. It's been like this for a week now. Any suggestions? I'm only 3 weeks out of surgery so I just started eating fish and stuff like that yesterday but my weight hasn't moved. I'm walking like they said to do. Trying not to get discouraged. Anyone have this problem this early on?

Don't get discouraged...it happened to me. It will go really slow, and then all of a sudden I'll lose 3 lbs in one day. When I started advancing in the levels it really slowed...it's to be expected.

Continue to walk and move about. Drink water/liquids often. It's bound to come off. Keep me posted.

Beginning week 7 post op. Highest Weight: 325, Start Weight: 293, Surgery Weight: 285, Current Weight: 255

My weight loss has been strange. I'm 3 months post-op and have lost every week. The last two weeks I lost 6 pounds each week. Total over 60 since surgery. This week I only lost 1 pound. Lowest amount since surgery. I'm thinking I'm gonna slow down. I'm gonna freak. I don't want to stop losing but I know the "stall" will happen eventually.

"The stall" is what led me to this site. I was in tears and even cried a bit to the clinic's liaison, though I got scolded for even getting on the scale, she explained to me exactly what one of the previous replies said. Your body just had the hell shocked out of it and needs time to grasp what's going on! It lasted a couple of weeks but I listened to her and others on this site whom were EXTREMELY understanding and supportive. You will find your place and your body will follow, slow but definitely steady. Find comfort in knowing we are right there beside you and right here when you need to just talk to someone, no matter what stage you're at. I'm glad I am finally comfortable with this new life, I made the right choice and so did you

Hey @@"Andre08" I have heard a lot of people talk about weight stalls. As far as I know I have not experienced any. I only get weighed at my milestone appointment at my bariatric center. This way I am discouraged by day to day weight fluctuations or that I am weighing on a different scales. I love hearing a "drastic" number every 3 months or so. This is method that has worked best for me.

Good luck to you!

Iʻm roughly 6 weeks post-op this morning and have begun to feel like a normal human, with a normal human body again. I started introducing solid foods and pill forms of medications/supplements a couple of weeks ago and it's really amazing to eat meals with my family again, despite the fact that my portions are so much smaller than theirs.
I live on the island of Oʻahu and spend a lot of time in the water- for exercise, for play,  and for spiritual & mental health. The day I had my month out appointment with my surgeon, I packed all my gear in my truck, anticipating his permission to get back in the ocean. The minute I walked out of that hospital I drove straight to the shore and got in that water. Hallelujah! My appointment was at 10 am. I didn't get home until after 5 pm.
I'm down 31 pounds since the day of surgery and 47 since my pre-op diet began, with that typical week long stall occurring at three weeks. I'm really starting to see some changes lately- some of my clothing is too big, some fits again. The most drastic changes I notice however are in my face. I've also noticed my endurance and flexibility increasing. I was really starting to be held up physically, and I'm so grateful that I'm seeing that turn around in such short order.
My general disposition lately is hopeful and motivated. The only thing that bugs me on a daily basis still is the way those supplements make my house smell. So stink! But I just bought a smell proof bag online that other people use to put their pot in. My house doesn't stink anymore.

Oh yeah, something I wanted to rant about, a billing dispute that cropped up 3 months ago.
Surgery was in August of 2023. A bill shows up for over $7,000 in January. WTF? I asks myself. I know that I jumped through all of the insurance hoops and verified this and triple checked that, as did the surgeon's office. All was set, and I paid all of the known costs before surgery.
A looong story short, is that an assistant surgeon that was in the process of accepting money from my insurance company touched me while I was under anesthesia. That is what the bill was for. But hey, guess what? Some federal legislation was enacted last year to help patients out when they cannot consent to being touched by someone out of their insurance network. These types of bills fall under something called, "surprise billing," and you don't have to put up with it.
      https://www.cms.gov/nosurprises
I had to make a lot of phone calls to both the surgeon's office and the insurance company and explain my rights and what the maximum out of pocket costs were that I could be liable for. Also had to remind them that it isn't my place to be taking care of all of this and that I was going to escalate things if they could not play nice with one another.
Quick ending is that I don't have to pay that $7,000+. Advocate, advocate, advocate for yourself no matter how long it takes and learn more about this law if you are ever hit with a surprise bill.

Some days I feel like an infiltrator... I'm participating in society as a "thin" person. They have no idea that I haven't always been one of them! 🤣

Thank you everyone for your well wishes! I totally forgot I wrote an update here... I'm one week post op today. I gained 15 lbs in water weight overnight because they had to give me tons of fluids to bring my BP up after surgery! I stayed one night in the hospital. Everything has been fine except I seem to have picked up a bug while I was there and I've been running a low grade fever, coughing, and a sore throat. So I've been hydrating well and sleeping a ton. So far the Covid tests are negative.
I haven't been able to advance my diet past purees. Everything I eat other than tofu makes me choke and feels like trying to swallow rocks. They warned me it would get worse before it gets better, so lets hope this is all normal. I have my follow up on Monday so we'll see. Living on shakes and soup again is not fun. I had enough of them the first time!! LOL

Still purging all of the larger clothing. This morning, a shirt that I ADORED wearing ended up on top. Hard to let it go, but it was also hard to let go of those habits that also no longer serve my highest good. Onward and upward!
