Band to Sleeve people, how was your recovery?

Recommended Posts

Very true and ouch! To the staples >.< hopefully your surgeon removes them soon. This is something I'll ask my surgeon when I see her (about the staples) and when you were banded, did you have acid reflux or heart burn ? And if you did, is it better now with the sleeve?

Only one night, otherwise nope. I was too tight once, and every time I fell asleep the acid and food would rush up my throat. I went to the doctor the next morning and got some liquid taken out asap.

I get heartburn a lot through the years. Tums are my friend. I wish it was one time.

I was sleeved on September 12, I had band removed back in May... I had band for 6 years.. it did its job, but at the end it had slipped and caused unbearable GERD... I'm down 28 lbs in almost 4 weeks, I feel good, I look good, and ready for this next chapter in my life.. good luck.. I'd like to suggest walking as much as possible once you get your strength back... once u start on soft foods, you will feel big difference..

I had band removed and sleeve done on 9/28. Recovery doing well. Still trying to get enough fluids in but other than that doing good. In the puréed stage right now. I am out of work for another 2 weeks so have plenty of time to get my fluids up before I return to work.. I am down 15lbs since date of surgery. Good luck

Other than the first day, my recovery has been easy. I could drink 64 oz water/day without any pain or problems, my Protein shakes, Soups go down with no problems. I'm on day 8. I feel almost like I didn't have surgery. I was wondering if my recovery is much easier than others because I had the band for many years (since 2009).

If you had the band to sleeve revision, was your recovery easy or difficult? Thanks in advance!

I was wondering the exact same thing. Besides the first 2 days it's been a complete breeze. I was able to drink all my fluids almost immediately. No pain meds. No GERD. I had surgery on a Monday morning and I was back at work that same Thursday even though I could have taken 2 weeks. I'm a month out and I'm eating solids right on schedule where as some people in my surgery group can't get past Soups, apple sauce, etc. I also wonder if it helps that having the band had already trained me to eat slowly and chew everything to powder so I haven't had any issues with sliming or anything like that.

I wonder that too. With a tight band, I usually couldn't drink for an hour so even up to now, I don't drink at all till one hour later unless I set a timer and make a point of it. Chewing till it's liquid is another habit we've learned lol. :)

I'm entering day 5 of recovery of my revision. Banded 11-2008, sleeve 11-15-16. I feel amazing, almost like I never had surgery, my incisions are starting to itch a lot so that's my reminder, lol. I was off prescription pain meds on day three. I can drink 64oz of Water a day and get in 60g Protein. I don't feel hungry. I feelin like I it's going to be the best thing I ever did.

That's awesome :). Yeah, my incisions were super itchy too! I put that Neosporin on that had anti-itch in it as well.

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
