Any So Cal Sleevers?

Recommended Posts

@@shelliluv, Thanks, you are way to kind!!

I have heard good things about Dr Cuneen, sounds like your in great hands and Cedar Sinai is a excellent hospital

As far as any words of wisdom...

I would recommend finding or having a good support system, that has helped tremendously! Also do not be discouraged when you have your stalls, stay on track and the weight will eventually drop.

Also drink lots of Water, exercise, take your Vitamins and eat your Protein. In the beginning its difficult but try to be diligent.

Most importantly... Enjoy this journey and your transformation! I look back at where I started and as much as the physical transformation is great, the mental transformation is beyond words. I'm truly happy and feel very blessed and I hope it will be the same for you

Good luck to you!!

thank you so much for the great advice. I'm actually having a really difficult time finding any sort of support group near me. I've gotten most of my information from others on these boards and I don't personally know anyone that has had WLS. but I am really appreciating you

I'm in Culver City, VSG is scheduled for 11/10 at Cedars. I would love to be in touch with someone local . I have less than 30 days to go and I'm a little panicked that I haven't lost any weight since my initial consult in July. I am now gearing up for the pre-op diet, and am starting now so I can have some more time to get used to new new relationship with food. I'm nervous about loose skin. Any advice on what, if anything, I can to help prevent or minimize it? I'm 5'7, weigh 255. Eeks!

You'll be in good hands at Cedars. I was just there yesterday afternoon to see my endocrinologist, and have always had a positive experience. I had surgery in Mexico because my insurance wasn't going to cover any of the costs, but would have had it locally otherwise (though I had a terrific time in Mexico).

I don't have any loose skin. Losing s l o w l y seemed to help the most in regards to my skin having time to adapt and minimizing Hair loss. It's not as satisfying when you step on the scale and don't see the numbers changing as often, but it has its perks. I think your age, how long you've been at your current weight, and other factors contribute to whether you'll have loose skin, in addition to the rapidness of weight loss.

One of my favorite places for low carb is Pampa's Grill in Culver City. We usually go after work and pick up dinner to have at home later.

The program is amazing. Dr. Burch was my surgeon and he's been an incredible support. Great follow up. I'm 2.5 years post surgery and maintaining a 130 lb loss

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞

Iʻm roughly 6 weeks post-op this morning and have begun to feel like a normal human, with a normal human body again. I started introducing solid foods and pill forms of medications/supplements a couple of weeks ago and it's really amazing to eat meals with my family again, despite the fact that my portions are so much smaller than theirs.
I live on the island of Oʻahu and spend a lot of time in the water- for exercise, for play,  and for spiritual & mental health. The day I had my month out appointment with my surgeon, I packed all my gear in my truck, anticipating his permission to get back in the ocean. The minute I walked out of that hospital I drove straight to the shore and got in that water. Hallelujah! My appointment was at 10 am. I didn't get home until after 5 pm.
I'm down 31 pounds since the day of surgery and 47 since my pre-op diet began, with that typical week long stall occurring at three weeks. I'm really starting to see some changes lately- some of my clothing is too big, some fits again. The most drastic changes I notice however are in my face. I've also noticed my endurance and flexibility increasing. I was really starting to be held up physically, and I'm so grateful that I'm seeing that turn around in such short order.
My general disposition lately is hopeful and motivated. The only thing that bugs me on a daily basis still is the way those supplements make my house smell. So stink! But I just bought a smell proof bag online that other people use to put their pot in. My house doesn't stink anymore.
