How long were you out of work?

Recommended Posts

Hi Everyone!

I am getting sleeved on 09/14, and I'm finishing up the paperwork for my FMLA and time out of work. When I asked my surgeon, he said that 2 weeks at home should be sufficient for me if I didn't want to take a lot of time out of work. I have a desk job, and the ability to work from home, so I spend most of my day sitting and never really lift anything.

I know that everyone is different as far as recovery goes, but I am just curious as to how long everyone else took? Did you think it was sufficient?

I am in a management position and when I leave I feel like everything gets out of order and I panic!

Any insight is appreciated!

I took two weeks for a similar type of job. I probably should have taken three. I was too exhausted to make it through an entire day for the first couple days back, had to leave and go home to sleep in the middle of the afternoon. After a couple days of that plus a long weekend, I went back to work and was fine to get through the whole day.

@

two weeks off sounds like a frequent response

works for many

your body will be the official "leader" telling you when you are able to return to work

many OP don't have the luxury to take as much time off as they want/need

if you must return to work sooner than you like - try 1/2 days

i returned to "work" the next day

i am happily retired!!!! :)

good luck to you and your new sleeve

speedy recovery

kathy

I took one week. I also have a management desk job but was able to do some work at home. When I returned I was exhausted and I had to remind myself to drink drink drink. So I would suggest 2 weeks off just to give yourself time to heal and get used to getting your liquid in.

I have a similar job. I had surgery on Monday and took that week off. Worked from home the next week, probably about 50% productive. Returned to work the following Monday exactly 2 weeks after surgery. I was a little more tired than usual but did fine.

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
