No, they taste more like hard spray cheese. So not worth it.

This thread made me laugh, not because of anything anyone said (though naturally I appreciate you are all very funny) but because when I looked at the nutrition values pic that was posted I read the cholesterol line as 'cholesterol, OMG - 0%'! But actually it was 0 milligrams. Doh!

Ps @ I don't know what cheese-itz are either but I bet they are not as good as twisties!

Sorry......I've got a thing for those little tasty morsels of death. Then.....after my VSG they come out with Sriracha flavor.....white cheese flavor........Holy Hell why day do dat ???? Bastards !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Good damn thing I avoid the crack rock....I mean cracker aisle in the grocery store. I pretty much just shop the perimeter of the store and roll on.

Oooooh chile... sips tea (unsweetened of course) I don't think anyone was DEFENDING Cheez-its, I guess some people feel like its not that deep. She just asked a question and the wrath of God was bestowed on her by some or at least I thought so. I should know because I myself have passed judgement ONCE about a woman and her bacon 3 days post op. I soooo regret that because none of us are perfect and it is a support forum not a nail em to the cross forum.

We come here to discuss things with a community of people with similar interests because these folks have been through it and we often share our experiences and opinions as I'm sure you already know. I don't know very many people in the real world (in my life) that have had WLS so some of us are quite new to this and are looking to discuss our questions and concerns with those who've gone through it. We're not looking to be coddle anyone but people don't want to feel condemned either.

As a NEWBIE, I find this site very helpful. There are some discussions that I don't agree with and some members that rub me the wrong way but I just move on...

You are right.

No judging.....just a knee-jerk reaction to cheezits. It reminds me of when I quit smoking.......and my wife started smoking two days later.....wut ? Are ya shittin' me, woman ?????? True story. Bish tortured me that way.

Opening up a box of Cheezits would be just like that for me......torture.

OP may have much stronger resolve. I'm a weak mofo.

I'm on stage 3 now and I'm allowed saltines, can I have cheese itz? I'm having a hard time eating and only get in about 300 calories a day.

Charley27, I know you already tried a couple of Cheeze It's and didn't really like them, but think about things like crackers and high carb/low Protein foods like this: If you're only getting in 300 calories a day, those calories MUST be high-quality calories, and carb-y, salty foods aren't high-quality. I know someone insisted that Cheeze It's have Protein, but it's only 3 grams for 30 crackers...that's negligible protein at the serving size you're likely to be eating, so they're essentially worthless nutritionally.

Have you tried Moon Cheese? 6 pieces has 70 calories, 5 grams of protein and no carbs. They're crunchy, which I crave too, and I'm a little obsessed with the Gouda variety. They're a much better 'crunch' choice than a carb-filled cracker and will give you some much needed protein.

I could NOT agree more! I'm both a) surprised by the number of snarly posts from both newbies and vets and b ) surprised that so many people have a hard time just walking on by.

There are people here whose posts I adore and some whose posts I don't...kind of like life, you know? IRL, I don't make it a point to publicly disagree when someone I don't like says something, so why do it here?

I DO find this site extremely helpful and I'm getting a ton of support in a little "June 2016" thread we have going on, but I venture outside of it as well, to help where my little bit of experience is appropriate and to glean knowledge from some of the seasoned folks on here. Can't we all just get along? :)

However.....we can also take it to a higher level by nudging some silly notions outa each other's noggins from time to time.

I know for a damn fact that my trajectory has been improved a number of times by the vets here....who posted their opinions that were clearly against my grain and yet their wisdoms hit home. There is no substitute for experience.

My opinion is that only a fool would shirk that wisdom, when provided.

I've learned to listen carefully.....evaluate and then either incorporate it or call it rubbish and move on.

I'm all about not reinventing the wheel. If a template for success is laid out in front of me......why in the hell do I want to venture down an alternate path ????????

I'm a hardheaded guy and don't listen well at times......but I've become a quick study when needed......in crunch times. I consider the health scares I've had the year leading up to my VSG such a "crunch time". I've listened carefully to those who've gone before me......and I am better for it.

I've learned to accept life according to the words of a woman that I cherish......"Suck it up Buttercup" and move forward.

Only a damn fool would denounce the collective wisdoms of successful patients who've made 2+ years and beyond and are rocking the results. Only a damn fool.................

Everyone's journey and post op plan is different and we must take that into account. We are here to support each other, not make people feel ignorant for asking a question or to insult people. We all have downfalls, if we didn't we all would not have been in the position to have to have surgery. So instead of offering insults, offer some suggestions or ideas to help get through those tough times. Not everyone is a nutrition expert and I find it funny how many people have their own myths and beliefs about nutrition. As a Registered Dietitian who has had the sleeve, I can honestly say that most people do not have a good idea of what healthy meals or foods would consist of, appropriate portion sizes, or even what macro and micro nutrients are....as an RD I don't make my patients feel foolish, I use it as a baseline to provide education, etc. So I would ask that when we are in these forums we should have patience, empathy, and share positive ideas instead of all this negativity. This is horrible! We are all in the same situation, not one of us is better than the other. It's not a matter of how far post op you are, how much you lost, who ate crackers and who didn't...we ALL were obese at one point and we ALL need to remember that!

@@ShelterDog64 Yaaaaas hunny I mean the clap back is so real! It's not about whatcha say but the delivery chile... some members offer genuine heartfelt advice/opinions others get a little stankface. Those individuals I just actively ignore. Opinions are like-- eh never mind. Because again I'm still new so what do I know? Lol!

Hey I realize I've taken extreme measures to achieve weight loss so don't get it twisted I respect the process. I expect nothing less than to reach my goals and stay there. But we can't all be perfect.

I've made some not so great choices despite knowing better but the pressure to be perfect can be a bit much sometimes. So it took those not so great choices for me to do some self reflecting and choose to do better.

@@Dub You mentioned that you had a huge craving for Cheez-Itz back when you were overweight. I see that you've managed to avoid them this long. Does self discipline get easier as the time goes by?

Only if you don't bring them back at stupid times......like early on.

Now.........id rather have a handful of chicken breast chunks !!!!

Only if you don't bring them back at stupid times......like early on.

Now.........id rather have a handful of chicken breast chunks !!!!

I hope I get that way. I tend to snack like a toddler, lol.

      Iʻm roughly 6 weeks post-op this morning and have begun to feel like a normal human, with a normal human body again. I started introducing solid foods and pill forms of medications/supplements a couple of weeks ago and it's really amazing to eat meals with my family again, despite the fact that my portions are so much smaller than theirs. 
      I live on the island of Oʻahu and spend a lot of time in the water- for exercise, for play,  and for spiritual & mental health. The day I had my month out appointment with my surgeon, I packed all my gear in my truck, anticipating his permission to get back in the ocean. The minute I walked out of that hospital I drove straight to the shore and got in that water. Hallelujah! My appointment was at 10 am. I didn't get home until after 5 pm. 
      I'm down 31 pounds since the day of surgery and 47 since my pre-op diet began, with that typical week long stall occurring at three weeks. I'm really starting to see some changes lately- some of my clothing is too big, some fits again. The most drastic changes I notice however are in my face. I've also noticed my endurance and flexibility increasing. I was really starting to be held up physically, and I'm so grateful that I'm seeing that turn around in such short order. 
      My general disposition lately is hopeful and motivated. The only thing that bugs me on a daily basis still is the way those supplements make my house smell. So stink! But I just bought a smell proof bag online that other people use to put their pot in. My house doesn't stink anymore.

      Oh yeah, something I wanted to rant about, a billing dispute that cropped up 3 months ago.
      Surgery was in August of 2023. A bill shows up for over $7,000 in January. WTF? I asks myself. I know that I jumped through all of the insurance hoops and verified this and triple checked that, as did the surgeon's office. All was set, and I paid all of the known costs before surgery.
      A looong story short, is that an assistant surgeon that was in the process of accepting money from my insurance company touched me while I was under anesthesia. That is what the bill was for. But hey, guess what? Some federal legislation was enacted last year to help patients out when they cannot consent to being touched by someone out of their insurance network. These types of bills fall under something called, "surprise billing," and you don't have to put up with it.

      I had to make a lot of phone calls to both the surgeon's office and the insurance company and explain my rights and what the maximum out of pocket costs were that I could be liable for. Also had to remind them that it isn't my place to be taking care of all of this and that I was going to escalate things if they could not play nice with one another.
      Quick ending is that I don't have to pay that $7,000+. Advocate, advocate, advocate for yourself no matter how long it takes and learn more about this law if you are ever hit with a surprise bill.

      Thank you everyone for your well wishes! I totally forgot I wrote an update here... I'm one week post op today. I gained 15 lbs in water weight overnight because they had to give me tons of fluids to bring my BP up after surgery! I stayed one night in the hospital. Everything has been fine except I seem to have picked up a bug while I was there and I've been running a low grade fever, coughing, and a sore throat. So I've been hydrating well and sleeping a ton. So far the Covid tests are negative.
      I haven't been able to advance my diet past purees. Everything I eat other than tofu makes me choke and feels like trying to swallow rocks. They warned me it would get worse before it gets better, so lets hope this is all normal. I have my follow up on Monday so we'll see. Living on shakes and soup again is not fun. I had enough of them the first time!! LOL
