Gallstone medication - reactions?

Recommended Posts

Vomitting and hot like flashes, spitting up, etc.

I am being prescribed Urso, which is a medication to help dissolve gallbladder stones and sludge. Has anyone used this before? What side effects did you get? Makes me nervous that one side effect is thinning hair, especially since I could get thinning hair just from getting the sleeve, which was done on 5/20.

@@swimbikerun That sounds horrible. Did you keep taking for the full prescribed time? I just picked my prescription up and the 500mg pills are the biggest pills I have ever needed to take. And I'm supposed to take it with food...not sure how I can even do that without getting overfull. And to do that twice a day...I'm considering not taking the medication. What was your dose?

Talked to my surgeon about my concerns, so he told me to just take half the dose. So 250 two times a day. Had my first one with lunch and didn't notice any effects. Hopefully it stays that way.

I took it for the first six months. I didn't have any side effects.

Everyone on my program, that still has a gall bladder, gets urisidol for six months. It helps prevent gall stone formation, which is a very common side effect of rapid weight loss.

I was prescribed Ursodial for 6-months post-op and didn't notice any side effects.

I was prescribed the same med and after taking it for a couple days I stopped because I had horrible horrible diarrhea from it (explosive and burned!). I told the doctor and he kind of blew me off on that and said it was best to take it to prevent gallstones than to get them and have to have surgery. At that rate, I'd rather do surgery! I am 3-1/2 months out and haven't taken them. So far so good (knocks on wood).

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
