Ok ladies I found something that helps in the meantime- it's a root spray by Rita Hazen I think? I'm only 44 but have been gray for years and have to touch up my roots every few weeks (actually my hubby does it but I'm not allowed to ever tell anyone so shhhhhh). The root spray bonds to hair and doesn't budge. I put it in when hair is damp and covers my "sparkles". The bonus is it makes my hair look thicker on top!

There is a root powder I got at Target that works just as well. :)

I attended a class at the hospital that did my surgery and we were told to purchase the Vitamin Biotin for Hair loss and to use Nioxin Shampoo which I bought in bulk at marshals dept store but I believe Walmarts/ kmarts may carry it. I can't vouch as to if this works as I am ONZY 6 weeks post op.

I think it's because of the decrease in nutrients. We're essentially starving ourselves. I'm terrified about losing my hair. I love my hair! I've been taking Biotin from day one hoping it'll help.

I'm pre-op but am really worried about the hair loss too. I had breast cancer and went shiny head bald from the chemo. I'm attempting to grow my hair long again, but it's just down to about my jaw now. I'm wondering if I should really try to go long right now if the Hair loss is in my future. I have pretty thin hair to start.

I've also gone on very low calorie diets for extended periods in the past and never had hair loss, so I question whether it will be an issue or not. I really hate the thought of losing hair once again. :-(

I have some spots that are rather thin but definitely not bald. In terms of low calorie diet, how low are you talking? I dont know about anyone else, but I'm averaging only about 650-700 calories per day. My hair is definitely a LOT thinner than it was. I did try the Keratin a couple of people have mentioned and it does help with it looking thicker but I feel it and can tell how thin it is. I'm not really sure it would make much difference whether your hair is long or short. My hair is past my shoulders and would still be just as thing if it was cut shorter. At this point, I'm going to keep using the Keratin and blowing my hair out so at least it looks fuller.

I just visited my brother couple weeks ago and he and his wife went on a 1200 calorie diet for over a year and he said he lost hair so guess it is just a wee get loss issue

I think my Biotin is messing up my skin!

You might want to check the other ingredients that are in your supplement. I always try to get organic, non-gmo Vitamins. I found these on Amazon and ordered them this morning. https://smile.amazon.com/gp/product/B00T56FQAE/ref=ox_sc_act_title_1?ie=UTF8&psc=1&smid=AQAIDN8YDF665

I think I wrote almost the exact same post at 4 months! I'm now 5 months and was told the hair loss should stop by month 6. I think mine has slowed down, which I'm grateful for. I have thin hair naturally so I was so afraid of bald spots. I don't have any "spots" yet but there is noticeable thinning at my crown and temple areas.

However I just started taking these - https://www.amazon.com/SugarBearHair-Vitamins-1-Month-Supply/dp/B019ZZB3O2/ref=sr_1_1_s_it?s=hpc&ie=UTF8&qid=1466715584&sr=1-1&keywords=sugarbearhair. So far, they seem to be doing good and they taste delicious! They are only 4 carbs so not too bad in that area.

and I just got in the mail, this Shampoo -https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B004N1EQNO/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o00_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1. I just got it in so I haven't tried it yet but picked it because of the great reviews.

I'm hoping that this combo and another month that my Hair loss will stop. :)

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞

Iʻm roughly 6 weeks post-op this morning and have begun to feel like a normal human, with a normal human body again. I started introducing solid foods and pill forms of medications/supplements a couple of weeks ago and it's really amazing to eat meals with my family again, despite the fact that my portions are so much smaller than theirs.
I live on the island of Oʻahu and spend a lot of time in the water- for exercise, for play,  and for spiritual & mental health. The day I had my month out appointment with my surgeon, I packed all my gear in my truck, anticipating his permission to get back in the ocean. The minute I walked out of that hospital I drove straight to the shore and got in that water. Hallelujah! My appointment was at 10 am. I didn't get home until after 5 pm.
I'm down 31 pounds since the day of surgery and 47 since my pre-op diet began, with that typical week long stall occurring at three weeks. I'm really starting to see some changes lately- some of my clothing is too big, some fits again. The most drastic changes I notice however are in my face. I've also noticed my endurance and flexibility increasing. I was really starting to be held up physically, and I'm so grateful that I'm seeing that turn around in such short order.
My general disposition lately is hopeful and motivated. The only thing that bugs me on a daily basis still is the way those supplements make my house smell. So stink! But I just bought a smell proof bag online that other people use to put their pot in. My house doesn't stink anymore.

Oh yeah, something I wanted to rant about, a billing dispute that cropped up 3 months ago.
Surgery was in August of 2023. A bill shows up for over $7,000 in January. WTF? I asks myself. I know that I jumped through all of the insurance hoops and verified this and triple checked that, as did the surgeon's office. All was set, and I paid all of the known costs before surgery.
A looong story short, is that an assistant surgeon that was in the process of accepting money from my insurance company touched me while I was under anesthesia. That is what the bill was for. But hey, guess what? Some federal legislation was enacted last year to help patients out when they cannot consent to being touched by someone out of their insurance network. These types of bills fall under something called, "surprise billing," and you don't have to put up with it.
      https://www.cms.gov/nosurprises
I had to make a lot of phone calls to both the surgeon's office and the insurance company and explain my rights and what the maximum out of pocket costs were that I could be liable for. Also had to remind them that it isn't my place to be taking care of all of this and that I was going to escalate things if they could not play nice with one another.
Quick ending is that I don't have to pay that $7,000+. Advocate, advocate, advocate for yourself no matter how long it takes and learn more about this law if you are ever hit with a surprise bill.
