People who stand on an escalator. It's an escalator people! It's meant to escalate your trip to the next floor. It's to get there faster than if it were only stairs. Sheeesh. If you wanna just stand, take the elevator.

Good things come to good people.

Agreed but it's a standard thing in Chicago....stand on the right, walk on the left...

How about people who must always one up someone else instead of letting them enjoy their moment.

Person A) We finally were able to save up and buy a decent, reliable car as our main vehicle that is only 4 years old.

Person B) We just bought a Corvette to cruise around in on weekends.

Person A) Our child always had a difficult time learning, worked their hardest and were admitted into our state college with a $5K/year scholarship.

Person B) Our child was given a full scholarship at (name of a prestigious school).

Person A) Now that our children are all grown up, we can finally take that honeymoon vacation we never could afford and go to Aruba for 5 days.

Person B) We are going to go on another annual 1 week cruise this summer and annual winter vacation in Aspen or Vail for a week to go skiing.

Oh I just love the one up people

Why is it in Cialis commercials, the couples are in separate bath tubs? Shouldn't they be together, isn't that the point? Also, why bath tubs? I think it is fairly inconvenient to have sex in a tub, not impossible, but certainly inconvenient.

I actually was told the story of why this is. A friend worked on the early commercials. Apparently they were filming one of the commercials the the tubs were on the set for a different commercial. The actors got in the tub and were messing around between takes. Somebody thought it looked cool so they filmed some of it. Apparently it snowballed from there.

I HATE when you let someone in front of you in traffic when they are waiting to change lanes or wanting to pull out of a lot, and they don't wave to thank you. I like to dramatically wave YOU'RE WELCOME when I don't get the "thank you" wave. :)

I can't stand this either. It would be awesome to have a junker car and insurance with no deductible so that I could ram them (just once - to get it out of my system :) )

Yes!!! Fried Green Tomatoes style?? (Road rage scene from the movie for any youngsters! ;) )

and learn the difference between to, too and two as well as their and there!!

And your and you're !!

Don't forget those who grouse about incorrect usage, grammar or vocabulary and then commit the very sin about which they grouse. You can find it for yourselves. I shan't name names, lest I bring the wrath of @@4MRB4PHOTO upon my head: "How about people who must always one up someone else instead of letting them enjoy their moment." It can also be such fun to see them swing from their own nooses.

Let's not overdo the martinet routine, though. There really are honest typos.

I love giving a loud, sarcastic "YOU'RE WELCOME" when I hold the door and someone doesn't even look up, much less acknowledge my gesture.

I give a hearty "OH GOODNESS -- EXCUSE ME" when someone jostles me, or or pushes past rudely.

Then I smile at them like the idiot they are.

Ok bunch of city rants...

I love tourists, I love that other people chose to vacation in my beautiful city...what I don't like is when they choose to stop dead in the middle of the sidewalk to use google maps to find their destination. I'm all for google maps but move over to the side against the buildings ! Stopping in the middle of the sidewalk your liable to be trampled.

Also, for the love of God! I take public transportation and no, I do not need to hear your phone conversation because you must use speaker phone. Really???? Get some damn headphones or oh, I don't know PUT THE PHONE TO YOUR EAR! Like a normal human being....

Rant over for now but I reserve the right to post in this thread again

I was on the train the other day and the guy sitting next to me received a call from his wife...

She literally abused him for 30 mins for missing his train and being late home for dinner (it was only 5.30pm!!).

She went crazy... she even threatened to punch him in the face!! Total psycho!

As annoying as it is... i was entertained for the whole ride home. .. poor guy couldn't say anything back... but the whole carriage could hear everything anyway!

I felt like turning to him and saying tell that psycho you aren't coming home for good... he only missed his train, it happens!! Crazy!

I feel the opposite. I think that they are made for people to stand still.

I think they are used for both. Stand to the right, climb to the left. If you are just standing, get the heck out of the way instead of standing dead middle on your phone because I am coming through.

@@4MRB4PHOTO, yes, your wrath. Had I spelled out the error of one who groused about language faux pas, I'd have --to paraphrase your line -- rained on his/her parade.

psst, perambulator

Question for anyone, how did you get your mind right before surgery? Like as far as eating better foods and just doing better in general? I'm having a really hard time with this. Any help is appreciated 🙏❤️

I had about 6 months between deciding to do surgery and getting scheduled. I came across the book The Pound of Cure by Dr. Matthew Weiner, a bariatric surgeon in Arizona, and started to implement some of the changes he recommended (and lost 13 lbs in the process without ever feeling deprived). The book is very simple, and the focus is on whole, plant based foods, but within reason. It's not an all or nothing approach, or going vegan or something, but focuses on improvement and aiming for getting it right 80-90% of the time. His suggestions are divided into 12 sections that you can tackle over time, perhaps one per month for a year if a person is just trying to improve nutrition and build good habits. They range from things like cutting out artificial sweetener or eating more beans to eating a pound of vegetables per day. I found it really effective pre-surgery and it's an eating style I will be working to get back to as I am further out from surgery and have more capacity. Small changes you can sustain will do the most for building good habits for life.

That sounds awesome. I'll have to check that out thanks!

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
