Post Your Silly Rant

Recommended Posts

This is some great Monday fun :)

1) Couples who share accounts on Facebook (i.e. StacyJason Smith). Just because you got married doesn't mean you've completely forfeited your personal identity.

2) Close talkers. Especially when they inch forward as I inch backwards. NO!

3) Being reliant on incompetent people to do your job and then looking like a fool when it's not done correctly because Barb from accounting didn't check her internal queue to process a payment.

4) Men riding loud motorcycles. The louder the bike, the smaller the package.

5) People who go to the beach and bring a radio and smoke cigarettes. I do NOT want to listen to Kanye West while I'm trying to enjoy the sound of the waves, and I CERTAINLY do not want to breathe in your cancer smoke!

6) This year's election.

7) Anyone who starts a sentence with "I'm not a racist or anything but..." Yes. Yes, you are a racist and you know it because you had to preface your thoughts with that statement.

8) Someone mentioned this already but I'll say it again: people standing/walking so closely behind me I can feel their breath.

9) Men who get offended when I hold the door for them. It goes back to number 8, I'm super uncomfortable with people walking behind me so I hold doors for ANYONE behind me because I want to walk without the weird feeling of someone watching my backside.

10) Bad customer service. Just in general.

Whew! I feel better now!

Omg yaaaas!!! #1 is my biggest pet peeve!!!! You're allowed to have separate accounts ppl!! You didn't merge into the same person when you got married!!!!

People who have multiple noises going on at the same time. My mom does this All the time, TV blasting, watching a YouTube video, and talking on the phone or WORSE trying to talk to me, all at the same time!

People who call you and are talking to someone else... I immediately hang up on them.

Last one I can think of.... When you're driving on a single lane road with a speed limit of let's say 50 mph and someone is turning right And slows down for 3 miles prior to the turn then comes to a complete stop and then proceeds to s l o w l y turn.. JUST GO!!!!!

checking out at the grocery store (Walmart)......been standing in line for what feels like forever, finally my turn so I start trying to unload my cart on the belt and the damn cashier refuses to turn the belt on until she is completely finished with the person in front of me!!! Why??? I know I'm going to lose it one day and just start throwing my stuff!

People who tell you they like to travel and then wait expectantly for you to compliment them like its a virtue. Who wouldn't like to travel if they had the money?

Also drivers who see the lane ending but apparently think their time is more valuable than everyone else's. Instead of merging like everyone else they speed up and pass everyone expecting you to let them back in at the front of the line.

Finally truckers with bumper stickers saying how much they paid in taxes without mentioning how much more money their trucks cost taxpayers with all the wear and tear on our roads.

Oh, and I have to agree with PayItForward, I think most people stand while on escalators. There really isn't room to pass someone so I only walk up if no one else is on.

This new "everyone deserves a trophy" BS... which seems to have created a generation of people whining and complaining accusing others of being "hateful" or "judgmental" when the opinion/advice given is not exactly what they wanted to hear - or not wrapped up in a pretty bow!!! WTF people - how thin is your damn skin!!!??? If you don't want opinions then don't fricken ask!!! This is not group counseling!!!

I would go further and say that most people on this journey should be in group counseling. And a high percentage should also be in individual counseling as well.

My surgeon's facility offers group sessions twice a month and I plan on attending all of them until surgery... and continuing post-op as well.

We're very fortunate to live in a beautiful older building in a lovely (and astronomically expensive) neighborhood close to our work for a reasonable amount, so I really shouldn't rant, but I'm going to anyway. The 16-year-old boy in the unit below ours takes showers in excess of an hour, up to three times a day, and he has done so for the past two years. He has OCD, and if he steps outside, he must come in and take another hour-long shower. This wouldn't be any of my business except - the pipes begin to scream after about 20 minutes; it's surreally loud, and he'll shower at 2 in the morning sometimes while on school breaks. We are in Los Angeles where there's a historic drought, and everyone is reminded to be Water conscious. The drought has also caused the water bill to spike. There aren't meters on individual units, so instead the water bill is split evenly and we all pay for it. I do have compassion for him and his parents, but feel like something could have been done at this point to address the problem rather than let it continue. I just got home and wanted to chill out, but the pipes are screaming. When the pipes aren't that loud, he's blasting his music or dribbling his basketball inside the house. We have a park across the street with courts. I used to live next to a frat house, and I lived in a sorority house, so I'm not in need of perfect silence, but this kid has definitely managed to step on my nerves. Silly rant over.

Or when they call you and then put you on hold. CLICK. And I don't answer when they call back. That's why we have voicemail that I don't listen to.

PULL UP YOUR DAMN PANTS!!!! I don't want to see your Hanes underwear with your belted pants around your knees!!! One day, I might get arrested, but I'm going to pull someone's pants down... I guess I should find out how much bail money will be for this...

People who call and don't leave voicemail.

Now my voicemail message says, "I go through my incoming calls regularly, and if I see your number twice and there's no voicemail, I'm simply going to blacklist your number. You have been warned."

The best part is I've blocked so many numbers that I rarely get any spam calls.

Such great general-life rants, I almost hate to add a weight-loss related one! But I will anyway. Why do I have round firm full 'saddlebags' and flat droopy saggy boobs after all this weight loss? post-203149-14656246952237_thumb.jpg

I am new here today... and only two weeks out from my sleeve surgery on the 23rd. I am amazed I have kept my calories down to 467 today so far... that leaves me almost 750 left for dinner and maybe a snack. This is going to be tough for two weeks... but I have to believe I can do it!

Hey everyone. I'm new here so I thought I should introduce myself. I am 53y/o and am scheduled for Gastric Bypass on June 25th, 2025. I'm located in San Antonio, Texas. I will be having my surgery in Tiajuana Mexico. I've wanted this for years, but I always had insurance where bariatric procedures were excluded. Finally I am able to afford to pay out of pocket.  I can't wait to get started, and I hope I'm prepared for the initial period of "hell". I know what I have signed up for, but I'm sure the good to come will out way the temporary period of discomfort and feelings of regret. I'd love to find people to talk to who have been through the same procedure or experience before. So I look forward to meeting you all. Hope you have a great week!

On day 4 of the 2 week liquid pre-op diet. Surgery scheduled for June 11th.
Soooo I am coming to a realization
of something and I'm not sure what to do about it. For years the only thing I've enjoyed is eating. We rarely do anything or go anywhere and if we do it always includes food. Family comes over? Big family dinner! Go camping? Food! Take a short ride or trip? Food! Holiday? Food! Go out of town for a Dr appointment? Food! When we go to a new town we don't look for any attractions, we look for restaurants we haven't been to. Heck, I look forward to getting off work because that means it's almost supper time. Now that I'm drinking these pre-op shakes for breakfast, lunch, and supper I have nothing to look forward to.  And once I have surgery on June 11th it'll be more of the same shakes. Even after pureed stage, soft food stage, and finally regular food stage, it's going to be a drastic change for the rest of my life. I'm giving up the one thing that really brings me joy. Eating. How do you cope with that? What do you do to fill that void? Wow. Now I'm sad.

I hope your surgery on Wednesday goes well. You will be able to do all sorts of new things as you find your new normal after surgery. I don't know this from experience yet, but I am seeing a lot of positive things from people who have had it done. Best of luck!

Life as a big person had limited my life to what I knew I could manage to do each day. That was eat. I hadn't anything else to look forward to. So my eating choices were the best I could dream up. I planned the cooking in managable lots in my head and filled my day with and around it.

Now I have a whole new big, bigger, biggest, best days ever. I am out there with those skinny people doing stuff i could never have dreamt of. Food is now an after thought. It doesn't consume my day. I still enjoy the good home cooked food but I eat smaller portions. I leave food on my plate when I am full. I can no longer hear my mother's voice saying eat it all up, ther are starving children in Africa who would want that!

I still cook for family feasts, I love cooking. I still do holidays but I have changed from the All inclusive drinking and eating everything everyday kind to Self catering accommodation. This gives me the choice of cooking or eating out as I choose. I rarely drink anymore as I usually travel alone now and I feel I need to keep aware of my surroundings.

I don't know at what point my life expanded, was it when I lost 100 pounds? Was it when I left my walking stick at home ? Was it when I said yes to an outing instead of finding an excuse to stay home ? i look back at my last five years and wonder how loosing weight has made such a difference. Be ready to amaze yourself.

BTW, the liquid diet sucks, one more day and you are over the worst. You can do it.
