ALWAYS HUNGRY AFTER LAPBAND

Recommended Posts

Hello fellow lap-banders! I'm sitting here 10 days post op and can't control my hunger! Is this normal? My surgery went all fine. No pain/no sickness / no vomiting whatsoever. My doctor said he filled my band under the surgery, and next fill should be no earlier than 8 weeks. However, I feel absolutely zero restriction ! I can eat almost everything in the usual amounts I'm used to. I wake up at night and eat because I'm hungry. I don't feel discomfort no matter how much I eat .. I feel exactly like before the band, apart from my healing wounds ! I'm very frustrated !! Was this waste of money and surgery risks ? Anyone else with similar problem ?!

Ten days post-surgery is still brand new. Bands are filled gradually until comfortably effective. They are thereafter adjusted as needed, whether by adding or removing some of the saline. You'll probably find yourself wanting to compare band sizes and saline levels with other people. As chitchat, go right ahead, but be aware that no two people do well at the same level. It's an individual thing.

In short, patience, patience. You'll get there.

Also keep in mind that the band is an aid, not a magic fix. Later on just as now, you'll have to do some of your own work.

This is very common. You will have restriction and appetite cessation bit these are early days -- there are a couple of great links in my signature below to understand how the band works.

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
