Hi all!

This is my first post here. I have been researching a lot and am ready to start going to my doctor to get the ball rolling. I have PCOS and an looking to conceive (I know, 18 months after). I am really freaking out about the recovery. I am mostly concerned about having staples, or having open incisions. How fast did they heal enough not to have pants hurt or if you turn at your waist? I am a baby with pain! I am looking to only take a week off work. I have a desk job that requires no moving really. I will have my husband drive me to work as well. I am just concerned about the incisions/scabs getting caught, ripped, tugged. Any advice??

Thanks!

Recovery was not long for me. I had 5 incisions (1 small, and 4 extra small). I was fine driving on day 2, I was not on any pain meds; just took it slow. I had surgery on Friday and was back at work on Tuesday feeling fine. My job required lots of walking which was great with the gas pain. It really helped. I was exhausted when I got home though. Stitches were removed after a couple of weeks. It was difficult getting in the needed liquids but I did ok.

Can't speak to the conception after surgery, mine are teens. But what I can say is this surgery was nothing compared to childbirth. It felt like someone pinched me unless of course I forgot about the surgery and moved too quickly.

However, everyone does have different experiences, so you have to give your body the time it needs to heal correctly. As for more help if you need it, ask for more time if you need it, and follow the recommendations given by your surgeon and nutritionist.

I think I'm just freaking out about needles honestly. The removing of stitches is freaking me out

Most of the time they use disolvable sutures. The incisions are very small. You will have to deal with needles though - you will get an IV in the OR and will obviously need blood work. Take a deep breath... You'll get thru it all.

M! @ had the same experience as I did. Had surgery the 5th of May, back to work the 9th (walking job). No stitch removal because it was derma glue and the five inscisions healed quickly, about five days. I too am a baby about pain but it wasn't bad at all. The anastesia is what I hated.

I didn't have any stitches removed, they put glue on the incisions had only two tiny tiny incisions and one large one at belly button. Personally I didn't need pain meds after 1 st day. Had surgery on Tuesday and went back to work the next Monday. Biggest problem for me was fatigue the first few weeks after surgery.

Thank you all! Were you able to wear normal clothes right after? I'm nervous about pants hurting the scabs

I also had the glue - no stitches to remove (same with my hysterectomy). Pants did not hurt - after the gas pain subsides (but that has nothing to do with the scabs)

I didn't have any stitches, just some glue. The doc said I had a couple internal stitches in the main incision. I had very minimal pain, basically they were sore for a few days when I moved a certain way. It did hurt to sleep flat, so for about week I slept in my recliner at a 45 degree angle. For a few weeks I had back pain, it felt like when your muscles are really sore after a hard workout.

Clothes were not an issue. I work in a hospital, scrubs, uniforms, etc. I generally wore loose clothes at home.

Just don't look at them putting the needles in, once the needles are in, they don't hurt.

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
