I am 7 weeks out. And I gain 1 lb. I think maybe I eat more carbs then should. It is hard to count calories for me. I am cooking my own food. Any suggestions. I am panicking already. What if I stretched my sleeve.

If you go to a website with a fitness and nutrition tracker, like www.myfitnesspal.com You can set up what values you want it to report.

All you do is enter what you have eaten, and it can tell you how many calories, carbs, Protein grams, sodium, sugar......whatever.....that it has in it.

My father was a farm-boy who became a scientist/experimental botanist, and one thing he mentioned frequently was that "you cannot control that which you do not measure."

At 2 1/2 years out from my sleeve, I still weigh and measure. It only takes me a couple of days of guessing to lose control.

we fluctuate a couple pounds every day naturally. a gain of 1 pound is likely normal, and not something to worry about.

Try focusing on getting all your Water in, then all your Protein in, and nothing else. at 7 weeks I was still struggling with that.

Maybe weigh yourself less too? every 2 weeks or so?

Stalls will happen, and you'll feel discouraged but it's unlikely you stretched out your sleeve so early on.

Miss Mac's post is great and good advice. I am over 2.5 years post-op and I still meausure new foods and use MyFitnessPal everyday. While I generally know how much of certain foods equates to a serving because I tend to eat the same things a lot, just yesterday I used a measuring cup to measure some Cereal because I wasn't sure how much a serving was.

Also, fluctuating a pound up isn't a big deal. It could be Water retention or just a fluke. I fluctuate roughly 2-3 pounds throughout the month and when I hit the top range of that, I pay extra attention to my foods for a few days and I drop right back down.

The trick to long term weight loss, at least from what I can tell, is being constantly vigilant. I am not someone that gets to eat whatever I want to. If I want to stay thin it is an every single day thing I need to pay attention to.

Relax.....focusing on a measly one pound will drive you nuts. Focusing on constantly weighing yourself will drive you nuts too....... I mean.........water weighs 8 lbs a gallon. :o And you are supposed to drink lots and lots of Water.

One thing you can count on from us Vets....we got the benefit of "time" to relate to. So.....all you gotta do is stick with the program and give it some time. (and stay away from that scale.) ;)

SOTFS until you are at least three months out. The scale numbers mean exactly jack shit at this point. The only numbers you need to be worrying about are grams of Protein and ounces of Water. And if you are getting enough of each, you likely will have no room for carbs anyways.

Listen to these people. Each and everyone of these vets that just posted are part of the reason I became so successful. They know what they are talking about!

@@Kindle "SOTFS" lol this is great advice that I was never able to follow. Though I know what to expect. But weighing everyday helps me maintain a sense of control. Though I only count it once a week.

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
