What a putz that person is!

A medically supervised diet leading up to the surgery, surgically altering your intestines and/or stomach, a lifetime commitment to eating a little differently and exercising, taking a small risk of something going wrong during or after the surgery (versus a very high risk if doing nothing at all, developing comorbidities and living a shorter lifetime)....I'll rather be a "cheater" on the green side of the turf.

They should be a "cheater" too to have a surgeon remove their head out of their backside, rather than them doing it "the old fashion way" themselves.

straight up truth is this is not the "easy way out"

However, if there WAS an easy way out, wouldn't we all, that person included be taking it? I know I sure would have.

Hi Lastmemory318! I'm in Baton Rouge, but my surgery will be in Lafayette. What part of Louisiana are you in and where will your surgery be?

Hi I'm in Covington...STPH. I've only had my first visit with the surgeon and nutritionist. Not sure what the process is yet. I know his office spoke with my insurance company. But when do you know everything's a GO! They gave me the packet, step down diet to start and 1 month follow up appointment....but that's pretty much all I know.

It's hard but chalk it up to ignorance. I was banded and some not all had rude comments however I worked my ass off literally. I lost the most weight of anyone I knew through eating healthy and working out 6 days a week. My cousin, 2 co workers, neighbor and friend NEVER lost what I did…they also never put in the work I did. It will be what you make of it but show her how great you look and when she opens her big mouth again tell her how much your "cheating" working out and eating healthy! maybe that'll shut her up! it certainly shut up the ppl who gave me snide comments pre band.

I tell them my weight is a result of genetics and I have a genetic disposition to putting on weight. Im often told that it's a result of not managing what I eat and I tell them if thats the case why dont skinny people with fast metabolisms who eat worse than me put ON weight. No one has answered that for me.

I find it astonishing when people think that having a surgery to assist in weight loss is cheating. Frankly, it's harder than regular diet and exercise, but much more rewarding, and nobody does it just to take the easy way out. It is not easy. They do it for their health, well being, and quality of life. Anyone who has the stupidity to say something like that is ignorant and shallow. Do not listen to them. You are doing the right thing, and you are the only one who matters in this decision. Keep up the good work!

I'm going to disagree about us being cheaters. Wasn't I cheated when I wasn't born with great genes? Wasn't I cheated when I didn't have parents that didn't teach me how to eat and exercise properly at a young age? Wasn't I cheated when we have six kids and no time to dedicate hrs to gyms when I'm at ball games, lessons, and organizations? Heck no! Some people have great genes, really good lessons from an early age, and the time and money to go to gyms and high priced health foods.

This is a tool for us to use its not a wand. We still have to put the work in and learn. Healthy lives aren't given just because we get banned. We still have to learn and WORK!!! We are not CHEATERS!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
