Finally! Plastics time! Tell me everything!

My husband is on board but he doesn't see why I want them so bad.

Oh, he will get it and he will have a new found "appreciation" ;) once the procedure is done. That was my experience anyway. Like you, my husband was on board and supportive, but always added that I did not have to go through with anything because he loved me just the way I was. Well, at times I wish I had never had the girls made up (um, not really) because he NEVER leaves them alone  .

Anyway, I am 8 months post plastics. I had a lower body lift (which is a 360 degree lift, and it includes a Tummy Tuck, hip flaps and butt flaps), a spiral thigh lift and breast augmentation for around 21K in San Antonio, TX with Dr. Peter Fisher. The recovery was tedious and rough, but it was worth it. I would do it again in a heart beat because I LOVE my results.

*I am on my way out the door, but I will come back and edit and add info that I think is important to prepare for post-op.

@@NewSetOfCurves Wow! That's not a bad price. I have no clue how much this will cost yet but I was figuring around 12 for the boobs? That may be too much but I'm guessing high so I'm not in shock. I'm not against leaving state if I need to to get the best surgeon and price.

I don't know anyone who's been to Mexico to have things done but I'm sure there is someone....

@@Elode - I am so excited for you!! Can't wait to follow you through the journey!

I went on Dr. Peter Fisher's website the other day (I think it was after @@NewSetOfCurves posted something about him. I haven't stopped thinking about it since and how I can get away with going to San Antonio for my plastics. Since I am in Dallas, I think I can pull that off - only 4-5 hours away by car.) ANYWAY, he has a downloadable "book" or instructions on his site that I found really informative. I know you aren't looking to go to him, but the info might be of use. I saved it to my computer so I could go back and reference it later.

Good luck!!

@@liannatx I'm excited too. I just wish I could skip the recovery part. Why does beauty HAVE to hurt?! Nothing's easy!! (I'm getting my whining out a little early for good measure)

@@Elode - YES! I am too scared to go to Mexico alone but I was thinking last week, there are 4 or 5 of us that could go together! :D

Ok I've been researching and this Surgeon in Mexico has stellar reviews. He's on "real self" website. You can get a "mommy make over" for 9000-9300 which includes breast augmentation, Tummy Tuck & Brazilian butt lift. That's pretty darn good seeing as how just a Brazilian butt lift averages 6500-14,000 here in the US. My husbands in the living room planning a Cancun vacation now lol!!

Here's what I've found with some prices.

Good timing. My surgeon just told me on Monday that at my next appointment in May, I could make an appointment with the plastic surgeon, and that it takes a couple months for approval, but he believes that insurance will pay for my Tummy Tuck and breast lift, because I'm having rashes and pain when exercising (woop).. and he said, if I wanted augmentation, I could add that in, or arms done.. since insurance is paying for everything else, it will be significantly cheaper.

So I'm going to see what they say.. but I'm not wanting my boobs augmented, just lifted.. and I want my arms done, I think.. I want thighs done too, but I don't think I'll be able to get all that done at once..

Just curious about something....if you are not a goal weight when you have all this done what happens when you get to goal? I'm about 10 lbs more than I wanted to be and I'm a little worried about that. Any thoughts from anyone?

Also is there anyone here that had a TT and regained weight? How does that work? Does your tummy stretch again or do you gain and become out of proportion?

Sorry I'm late to this party! I had a Tummy Tuck, breast lift with augmentation, all over Lipo, and fat grafting all done at the same time back in August 2011 after having lost 90 pounds "on my own". My recovery was a lot worse than most, unfortunately. I had swelling of the soft tissue in my lower back (lipoma) that lasted a good 6-9 months where it was impossible for me to sit up or lie on my back for any period of time without extreme discomfort. I spent the vast majority of my time lying on my side. It was particularly bad driving, because of the way car seats tend to lean back. When I came back to work, I could only work half days and had to use a kneeling chair.

Aside from the back issues, the recover from TT with muscle repair is pretty brutal. The muscle repair part will be the source of a lot of your pain. The incision, though gruesome to look at, really doesn't hurt all that much. As someone else mentioned, if you have the breast work and TT done at the same time, the breast pain and recovery will seem almost non-existent compared to the TT pain and recovery. You won't be able to stand up straight for a good 2 weeks at least. The first day or two, it hurt just to breath and coughing, sneezing, or laughing were EXCRUCIATING. Like you felt like you were being torn in half all over again. DO NOT laugh! Stay away from funny people. Do not watch funny TV shows.

Now, with all that negativity out of the way, I will say that I am happy and grateful EVERY SINGLE DAY for my plastics, even 5 years later. It's kind of like WLS itself. A lot of misery and suffering in the beginning, but SO WORTH IT in the long run. I regained 80 of the 90 pounds I had lost between the time I had my plastics and the time I was sleeved. But now that I am at goal and maintaining with the sleeve, the results of my tummy tuck still look amazing. My stomach is flat, I have defined abs, and my scar is low and minimal. I love love love it!

I posted some pics of my TT scar in this thread:

Iʻm roughly 6 weeks post-op this morning and have begun to feel like a normal human, with a normal human body again. I started introducing solid foods and pill forms of medications/supplements a couple of weeks ago and it's really amazing to eat meals with my family again, despite the fact that my portions are so much smaller than theirs.
I live on the island of Oʻahu and spend a lot of time in the water- for exercise, for play,  and for spiritual & mental health. The day I had my month out appointment with my surgeon, I packed all my gear in my truck, anticipating his permission to get back in the ocean. The minute I walked out of that hospital I drove straight to the shore and got in that water. Hallelujah! My appointment was at 10 am. I didn't get home until after 5 pm.
I'm down 31 pounds since the day of surgery and 47 since my pre-op diet began, with that typical week long stall occurring at three weeks. I'm really starting to see some changes lately- some of my clothing is too big, some fits again. The most drastic changes I notice however are in my face. I've also noticed my endurance and flexibility increasing. I was really starting to be held up physically, and I'm so grateful that I'm seeing that turn around in such short order.
My general disposition lately is hopeful and motivated. The only thing that bugs me on a daily basis still is the way those supplements make my house smell. So stink! But I just bought a smell proof bag online that other people use to put their pot in. My house doesn't stink anymore.

Oh yeah, something I wanted to rant about, a billing dispute that cropped up 3 months ago.
Surgery was in August of 2023. A bill shows up for over $7,000 in January. WTF? I asks myself. I know that I jumped through all of the insurance hoops and verified this and triple checked that, as did the surgeon's office. All was set, and I paid all of the known costs before surgery.
A looong story short, is that an assistant surgeon that was in the process of accepting money from my insurance company touched me while I was under anesthesia. That is what the bill was for. But hey, guess what? Some federal legislation was enacted last year to help patients out when they cannot consent to being touched by someone out of their insurance network. These types of bills fall under something called, "surprise billing," and you don't have to put up with it.
      https://www.cms.gov/nosurprises
I had to make a lot of phone calls to both the surgeon's office and the insurance company and explain my rights and what the maximum out of pocket costs were that I could be liable for. Also had to remind them that it isn't my place to be taking care of all of this and that I was going to escalate things if they could not play nice with one another.
Quick ending is that I don't have to pay that $7,000+. Advocate, advocate, advocate for yourself no matter how long it takes and learn more about this law if you are ever hit with a surprise bill.

Some days I feel like an infiltrator... I'm participating in society as a "thin" person. They have no idea that I haven't always been one of them! 🤣

Thank you everyone for your well wishes! I totally forgot I wrote an update here... I'm one week post op today. I gained 15 lbs in water weight overnight because they had to give me tons of fluids to bring my BP up after surgery! I stayed one night in the hospital. Everything has been fine except I seem to have picked up a bug while I was there and I've been running a low grade fever, coughing, and a sore throat. So I've been hydrating well and sleeping a ton. So far the Covid tests are negative.
I haven't been able to advance my diet past purees. Everything I eat other than tofu makes me choke and feels like trying to swallow rocks. They warned me it would get worse before it gets better, so lets hope this is all normal. I have my follow up on Monday so we'll see. Living on shakes and soup again is not fun. I had enough of them the first time!! LOL

Still purging all of the larger clothing. This morning, a shirt that I ADORED wearing ended up on top. Hard to let it go, but it was also hard to let go of those habits that also no longer serve my highest good. Onward and upward!
