Oh you bet your booty I'm keeping that pain under control! ????. They are very nice here, andningetbliquid vicoden every six hrs. If I have breakthrough pain, I get some tramadol. I was on liquid morphine, but it made me so hot!!! And I itched like crazy. I feel good with what I'm on now. I have to stay 4/5 days because my potassium is being low. They want the cardiologist to reset my b/p meds and then I get to go home. Dr's here at Springfield I'll are real strict and if you don't reach the goals, you stay until you do.

Thanks for asking!! I'm waking as much as they will let me and man!!! that walking really helps ????????!! So everybody WALK WALK WALK!!!

My surgery has been scheduled for the 16 it was moved up from March because my doctor had a cancellation , I think this is good because it put me in a better mindset , I have not told a lot of people because everyone has a negative story about someone they know that it didn't work out and I didn't need to know this, everyone is different all I know is that I went through a lot these past eight months to get where I am at to prepare for this and I WILL SUCCEED ! So keep thinking positive and remember this is a lifestyle change and not a quick fix good luck to you

Here is the Feb 2016 bypass SECRET FB group:

Turns out someone already created one. Here are the instructions:

We are starting a closed/secret group on Facebook and would LOVE to have you join us.

2 years ago I had a sleeve done, but due to complications they are revising me from sleeve to bypass. I had an AMAZING group on Facebook that all had the same surgery that month. We were going through the same things whether it was venting one day, sharing milestones, and made lasting friendships!

Since it's a secret group there is some hoops to go through to get added (sorry, Facebook makes it harder) The good thing is that it's completely secret meaning none of your friends can know see posts or ever know you're in it This makes it a safe place for us because I know for some it's not something they want to share. Here's how to join:

1. Go to https://www.facebook.com/lanaepetersen and send me a friend request

2. I will accept the friend request, then send you an invite to the group.

3. After you are added to the group I'll unfriend

I just sent you a request. Thank you!!

Wow, folks, I just got about an hour ago from the hospital. My first comment is that for me it's about discomfort, being achie, but not much pain, and no sharp pains. I walked like crazy around the halls of the unit; starting about 4 hours after surgery on Wednesday, but really kept after the walking. It's weird to finally realize why they say it will be hard to drink 30 to 60 oz of Water and any liquid everyday. Day two after the Barrium exam, in the next 20 hours I could barely drink 16 ounces and I was trying like mad. So yes those were three very uncomfortable days in that hospital but I'm excited to have a powerful behavior mod tool to change my relationship with food.

I'm kind of out of it right now, I'll be posting more later but wow!!

Wow!!!!! Your back! Me and a few other posters were looking for you everywhere!! We started to worry; you just dropped from the planet!!! I just posted personal messages to three posters that use several of the forums here, and that I know you are familiar with. They all said they couldn't find you.

Well, you're here now and that's GREAT!????. We knew you had stated you were alone in this and no one would be visiting you, so I kept trying to give you a "virtual" visit from the other side! It's a whole new ball game, isn't it?? ???? It really starts to dawn on you what has happened and that you are "different", but the same to anyone else who sees you. They don't know the huge change you have just put in place.

It's like an internal earthquake that no one saw or heard, only you. Welcome to the Losers Bench????!!

I hope your pain is controlled. The walking will help you heal and pass gas easier, and the *sip*sip*sip rule will literally be the RULE. At least for now until you start doing small bites-chewed-chewed-chewed!!!

So glad to hear from you!!! Really wanted it to work out for you! Good luck going back to work; I think you're brave, because I don't think I could make it all day. I'm still easily exhausted and need pain meds every 6 hrs. But you go, dude!! Get it if you can!! Greatest thoughts and healing vibes to you! Yaaaaay Pedro!!!!????

Hey Pedro. I'm also glad to hear that you have been discharged and that all went well. Welcome to the losers bench. Honestly, if I were you I would think twice about going back to work next week, it at all possible. I'm so glad I took off the week of and the week after surgery. My energy levels are so very low and my fluids are around 70 oz's and I'm getting in 60 grams of Protein. I'm going to try and start the Vitamins tomorrow--I need a pep in my step. Still no significant amount of pain, just sore, but extremely tired. Just something for you to think about.

Yes, many people I know or chat with took time off-some before, but many took most days off after. I'm self employed so I can always adjust my schedule for myself.

I'm trying to get up to 70oz of Fluid, too. It's hard to squeeze it all in. They just told me today to start protein; 1oz of protein to every 7 oz of clear fluids. Plus all the vitamins, the pain meds, and exercise. So it's a job to get it all done!!

Im happy that we are all on the Losers Bench, though! I was the fat girl in school that never tried out for any sport, and I was always the last one picked for teams (usually NOT picked) but left as the "no choice left" person. ????⚾️⚽️It's great to be on this team and people want me to be here, too????????????!

Glad your doing well @DDN-and that your wife is your "team mate". Support is so good to have, and I read many sad posts where people have little or no support. Worse yet, some people are met with stupidity and hostility. All do to ignorance and /or plain predjuice ????☹️!!

Thinking about those new clothes yet??

hi folks, good to hear your voices!!

Well I too am a bit worried about 9 days then back to teach high school now.

I didn't have my computer at the hospital, and don't know to on my smart phone.

Well I'm exhausted and want to sleep, I just "ate" my first dinner and it was half an Atkins chocolate shake and it was "heavenly," now as came here in my room to sleep, I notice my black t-shirt is wet. It seems there is bloody drainage stuff (sorry.ugh), but I cant be sure where it's coming from. I looked at the post-op info sheet and it says to "report to them" any fever, swelling, redness, bleeding or would drainage so I just called left message to call me with the night service. I feel fine but this makes me a bit concerned

So I'm waiting for a call from my surgeon's partner, the on call guy tonight. I'd hate to drive back up there tonight.

I'll keep you posted

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞

Iʻm roughly 6 weeks post-op this morning and have begun to feel like a normal human, with a normal human body again. I started introducing solid foods and pill forms of medications/supplements a couple of weeks ago and it's really amazing to eat meals with my family again, despite the fact that my portions are so much smaller than theirs.
I live on the island of Oʻahu and spend a lot of time in the water- for exercise, for play,  and for spiritual & mental health. The day I had my month out appointment with my surgeon, I packed all my gear in my truck, anticipating his permission to get back in the ocean. The minute I walked out of that hospital I drove straight to the shore and got in that water. Hallelujah! My appointment was at 10 am. I didn't get home until after 5 pm.
I'm down 31 pounds since the day of surgery and 47 since my pre-op diet began, with that typical week long stall occurring at three weeks. I'm really starting to see some changes lately- some of my clothing is too big, some fits again. The most drastic changes I notice however are in my face. I've also noticed my endurance and flexibility increasing. I was really starting to be held up physically, and I'm so grateful that I'm seeing that turn around in such short order.
My general disposition lately is hopeful and motivated. The only thing that bugs me on a daily basis still is the way those supplements make my house smell. So stink! But I just bought a smell proof bag online that other people use to put their pot in. My house doesn't stink anymore.
