How much ounces do you eat after 1 year?

Recommended Posts

1 year and 2 months out and I just ate a 6 oz. Burger patty, and few bites of a baked potato.. I'm worried and not sure if that's normal..

Just wondering how much ounces are you eating after 1 year?

I can eat an entire hamburger patty without any bread (most days) but I don't have room for anything else. I'm not sure how many ounces that is.

I was sleeved in May and I am eating less and less. Before I thought the operation didn't work and as of the beginning of December that changed. Now I can hardly eat 3 ounces.

It depends on what it is. If it's something kind of liquidy, like chili, I could eat 6-7oz. probably. If it's something really dense, like chicken breast, I can do maybe 4oz.? I'm 16 months post-op.

I'm 17 months out, and it just depends on what it is.

If it's a light white fish, I can eat about 5-6 oz with a few bites of veggies. If it's beef, which is a little denser, only 4-5 oz with a couple bites of veggies. Same with chicken. I can eat 3/4 cup of Soup, cottage cheese, oatmeal, yogurt and the like.

My capacity at 17 months post-op is a lot like Babbs'.

Also depends on whether I drink wine with the meal and whether the meal lasts an hour or longer, both of which can increase slightly the amount I can eat.

I am 13 months out and sometimes feel like I could eat more than I should. Some days I feel no restriction at all, and other days I feel as restricted as I did right after surgery. Strange. I usually try to eat about 3 ounces of Protein at lunch and dinner, which usually fills me up. I also usually have some veggies and occasionally a little potato or quinoa. I sometimes feel my calorie count is too high, though. I try to stay at about 1200 calories per day, but that's hard on some days.

It really depends on what it is and how slow I eat.

I can eat a cup of salad/vegetables.

I can eat a small burrito. Half a large chipotle one.

I can eat a small taco and chips and salsa.

I can eat 1.5 small pizza slices.

A cup of Cereal with fruit.

2 ounces of steak and a couple bites of veggies.

A cup of Soup.

Now I'm hungry. :)

At certain times of day I can eat more than at others. I struggle with evening and morning. Can't usually eat too much those meals. lunch is usually the larger meal I can handle.

As a so-Cal resident hearing I will eventually be able to eat a small taco or chipotle made me happy. I'm only 3 days out from surgery, struggling to ingest my 48-64oz. It seems impossible now but I know it will get better. This list gave me hope. ????????

my days vary too. Just also depends on how hydrated you are. My doc told me that the days you feel like you can't eat anything you are dehydrated and need more Water. it takes me hours to eat one 6 oz steak, I will probably eat 3 oz of it then an hour and a half later be hungry and eat the rest.

I learned I could eat pretty much anything, even though it got uncomfortable, and I kept grazing. Since my husband was sleeved also, I do not cook. His choices were better than mine. I learned that I must journal my foods the rest of my life. I thought I wasn't eating much.. The scale proved me wrong.

Thank you everyone for your well wishes! I totally forgot I wrote an update here... I'm one week post op today. I gained 15 lbs in water weight overnight because they had to give me tons of fluids to bring my BP up after surgery! I stayed one night in the hospital. Everything has been fine except I seem to have picked up a bug while I was there and I've been running a low grade fever, coughing, and a sore throat. So I've been hydrating well and sleeping a ton. So far the Covid tests are negative.
I haven't been able to advance my diet past purees. Everything I eat other than tofu makes me choke and feels like trying to swallow rocks. They warned me it would get worse before it gets better, so lets hope this is all normal. I have my follow up on Monday so we'll see. Living on shakes and soup again is not fun. I had enough of them the first time!! LOL

Still purging all of the larger clothing. This morning, a shirt that I ADORED wearing ended up on top. Hard to let it go, but it was also hard to let go of those habits that also no longer serve my highest good. Onward and upward!

Well, tomorrow I go in for an impromptu hiatal hernia repair after ending up in the ER over the weekend because I couldn't get food down and water was moving at a trickle... I've been having these symptoms on and off for a few weeks but Sunday was the worst by far and came with chest pain and trouble breathing. The ER PA thinks it is just esophagitis and that the surgeon and radiologist are wrong. But the bariatric surgeon swears it is a hernia, possibly a sliding one based on my symptoms. So he fit me into his schedule this week to repair it! I hope he's right and this sorts it out. He's going to do a scope afterwards to be sure there is nothing wrong with the esophagus. Here's hoping it all goes well!!
