How much exercise do you do weekly?

Recommended Posts

I'm 9 weeks post- surgery. My doctor told me no strength or weight training. I'm walking about 3,000-5,000 steps per day and I go to the gym 2-3 times per week and get on the treadmill and walk. My body doesn't like the elliptical or other machines (yet?) and I'm hating every minute of it, but I'm going, because I need to. I wish I had the motivation to do more. PF is the only gym I can afford right now, but it works.

I am 3 weeks out I have lost 10kg so far I have tried just walking but I am fighting a chest infection. As soon as I am well enough. I intend to get in the habit of walking everyday for 30minutes. It's a start.. Once I am at 6-9 months I would like to do weights and yoga. Now I am retired I have much more time on my hands.. Looking forward to getting better and this chest infection gone!

I am 26 months out and do exactly 0 minutes of excercise 0 days/week.

Unless you count being on my feet, squatting, bending, lifting 40-60 pounds at work 10-12 hours/day, feeding and watering horses, stacking 80 pound bales of hay, shoveling snow, mowing the lawn, hiking with my dog, horseback riding, and kayaking.

But these are all the exact same things I did before surgery, so it's not like it's any kind of structured excercise program or even a WLS related lifestyle change......just something I've always done.

I walk 5-6 days a week. It's only 1.5 miles, but it all adds up. I'm going to start adding little jogs in between the walking, with the aim of being able to job the whole thing eventually.

I'm now 12 weeks out and my loss has slowed. Maybe I'm not exercising enough?

Great job on getting started! I love running, so I run 3-4 times a week & then I do a barre class 2 nights/week. I really love that for strength training without traditional weights, etc. It's fun!

I'm 11 weeks out, I go to the gym for at least an hour 5-6 days a week. I work with a trainer two days a week, the rest is me doing the treadmill/elliptical and weight lifting. I've added the rowing machine in recently, so far so good.

The trainer is kicking my butt which is really helping keeping me motivated and pushing past what I'm just comfortable with and trying new things

I never thought I would become a gym addict, but I have! I work out 5 days/week and do 30 mins weights/30 minutes cardio 4/5 days. The remaining day I do straight cardio for 45-60 minutes--either a class or running on the treadmill. My family was in town last week and the gym was closed today for Easter so I only worked out 3 days last week and I am anxious to get back to it tomorrow!

So true rnsamantha, you have built a habit. Same with me I never used to work out but now that I've started I can't stop. Every week I'm challenging myself and my body

I workout an average of 4 days a week, and the workouts are pretty intense. I used to be a runner, but I could never stick with it consistently. It took me a long time to admit to myself that I hate running! So I do taekwondo twice a week, then the other days I do classes in the gym, like Insanity, Zumba, Rowing, or Body Combat. So fun. So motivating. I really believe in finding something you enjoy so you stick with it.

I'm about 9 weeks out and I've began to exercise three times a week for about 30 to 35 mins. I was just wondering what everyone else is doing.

I am 11 months post-op and am swimming three-four plus times a week. I usually swim an hour of laps. Some days in addition to laps, I take a Water aerobics class, or do my own thing with Water weights and ab work. I also usually do some leg exercises in the water given to me by my PT (for about 10 minutes or so) and then do a stretching cool down.

Can you tell it is hard for me to want to get out of the pool once I get in?

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
